Olive Young — Attraction in Jeju

Place was easy to find but absolutely crowded by schoolies when I visited in the afternoon. Had to pop in since I needed something that I couldn’t find in the convenience store and this place was the closest to my airbnb. Ended up shopping a basket full of skincare as well since they were running a good sale.

I noticed however that some staffs and particularly an older looking lady were always following my husband and I the entire visit. It wasn’t in the “hi how can we help you today” or “let me make myself available just in case my customers need my assistance” type of thing. But just silently being there, no smile, no hi’s, constantly in the corner of our eyes just hovering around, not particularly doing anything either.

Not sure what the deal is? Is this place not as tourist friendly as the other branches (which were ALWAYS packed by tourists anyway)? But definitely uncomfortable for both of us and felt a little discriminatory since other shoppers are left by themselves all over the shop. Just sus feeling and unpleasant. And we shopped a lot-a lot by the end of the visit so idk what their issue was.

I’ve visited countless of other Olive Young branches across Jeju and never had this happen as the staffs usually just greet you as they walk by and leave you to your business.

If I were getting this totally wrong though, still, it’d be nice to just actually be approached and offered assistance to rather than them hovering about all the time. That way, I’d have an idea that you were there to assist me and NOT to follow me around.

Is it a hint of racism, is it just a cultural misunderstanding, I have no clue but I’d just avoid this branch altogether due to the unpleasant...

2025/08來訪，很有人氣的一家店，發現挺大間的，非常好逛，工作人員忙裡忙外的補貨，人手非常充足，也歡迎大家前去跟工作人員詢問商品位置，態度是非常良好和善的，自家招牌的點心蝴蝶餅這裡找到了販賣一整組的，很適合送人，美妝、保養、護髮等區，都是有足夠的試用給大家試用，試用後再購買，熱門商品也在顯眼的位置，可以順利拿取。最後到結帳區，居然還設了三個結帳人員，很快速的服務，最後還可以直接免稅，不用去機場再退稅，值得稱讚的企業，我後面也加買了olive...
