2025.9.16-17 We spent 2 nights in Jeon-Ju to soak up the this UNESCO historic village’s atmosphere. On a weekday…to avoid the crowds. It rained the 2nd day. So we were fortunate to catch the sunset on the 1st day. Our hotel overlooked the village. So beautiful. In the evening, it’s even prettier and romantic. While I am disappointed with the commercialisation (lots of Hanbok rentals, loud pop music being played, restaurants, souvenir shops), I realised it is absolutely necessary to sustain the site. As it is, there are many shops that closed with signages for rental. I personally prefer this to Bukcheon. It’s quaint and easier to walk (flat as opposed to hilly). Lots of historical and Confucian significance. There’s even a 600 year old gingko tree. Many of the restaurants here are as reasonably priced as the ones outside the village. Even for a non-history buff, I would gladly return to this village again.

Visiting Jeonju Hanok Village in the fall felt like stepping into a gentle dream. The air was cool and crisp, the trees brushed with warm autumn colors, and everything moved at a slower, more peaceful pace. We wore beautiful hanbok and took some of our favorite photos ever—the traditional houses and quiet alleys made the perfect backdrop. It’s such a photogenic spot, especially for girls who love capturing soft, romantic moments. Wandering through the village streets, we stumbled upon a cozy little restaurant and enjoyed a warm bowl of Jeonju-style bibimbap. It was comforting and full of flavor, just like the village itself—rich in tradition, yet so welcoming. For any girl planning a trip to Korea, Jeonju is definitely a must-visit—perfect for pretty photos, slow walks, and sweet memories that linger long after you leave.

Jeonju Hanok Village was formed when Koreans gathered in opposition to the influx of Japanese residents during the Japanese colonial period. Today, it stands as a cultural heartland, home to over 700 beautifully preserved traditional Korean houses known as hanok. The village is filled with charming shops, cozy cafes, restaurants offering authentic Korean cuisine, and a variety of art galleries. When night falls and soft lights illuminate the quiet alleyways, walking through them feels like embarking on a journey back in time to the Joseon Dynasty. The peaceful, nostalgic atmosphere blends past and present, creating a uniquely romantic experience.

A Wholesome Cultural Escape to Jeonju Hanok Village

My recent trip to Jeonju Hanok Village was an unforgettable and wholesome experience, offering a beautiful glimpse into Korea's rich cultural heritage. The highlight of the day was wearing a traditional hanbok, which made the visit feel even more special. As I walked through the charming alleys lined with traditional hanoks, I felt like I had stepped back in time. The architecture, wooden rooftops, and cobblestone paths created a peaceful and picturesque atmosphere that was both calming and inspiring.

Wearing a hanbok added a unique charm to the journey. It felt magical to explore the village in traditional attire, surrounded by others also dressed up, creating a colorful and vibrant vibe. We took countless photos in front of historic houses, gates, and murals—it felt like a scene from a Korean historical drama.

The experience was made even more comfortable and enjoyable thanks to DreamJourney Tour Company, who organized the entire trip. From the moment we boarded the bus, everything was perfectly arranged. The transportation was comfortable, the itinerary was well-paced, and the tour guide was friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. DreamJourney also arranged hanbok rentals, making the whole process smooth and hassle-free. Their attention to detail ensured that we didn’t have to worry about anything and could simply focus on enjoying every moment.

One of the highlights was trying Jeonju’s famous bibimbap, which was absolutely delicious. The local food, traditional snacks, and warm tea at cozy cafés added so much to the experience. It was the perfect way to relax and enjoy the local culture.

Thanks to DreamJourney, what could have been just another tour became a meaningful, stress-free, and joyful memory. I felt safe, well taken care of, and truly immersed in the culture.

If you're looking for a cultural escape that’s both relaxing and inspiring, I highly recommend visiting Jeonju Hanok Village—and going with DreamJourney Tour Company. It’s a journey I’ll...

While both Bukchon Hanok Village in Seoul and Jeonju Hanok Village in Jeonju offer glimpses into traditional Korean architecture and culture, there are several key differences between the two:

Location: Bukchon Hanok Village is located in the heart of Seoul, South Korea's bustling capital city, while Jeonju Hanok Village is situated in the city of Jeonju, which is known for its rich cultural heritage and culinary traditions.

Size and Scale: Bukchon Hanok Village is relatively small and compact, with narrow alleyways and around 900 traditional hanok houses densely packed together. In contrast, Jeonju Hanok Village is larger in scale, spanning several streets and alleys, and is home to over 800 hanok houses spread out across a more extensive area.

Atmosphere: The atmosphere of each village differs due to their respective locations and histories. Bukchon Hanok Village, being located in the heart of Seoul, has a bustling and vibrant atmosphere, with a mix of tourists, residents, and businesses coexisting in the area. Jeonju Hanok Village, on the other hand, has a more relaxed and laid-back ambiance, with a slower pace of life and a focus on preserving its cultural heritage.

Cultural Offerings: Both villages offer cultural attractions and experiences, such as traditional craft workshops, cultural performances, and hanbok rentals. However, the specific offerings may vary between the two villages, with Jeonju Hanok Village known for its emphasis on traditional arts, crafts, and cuisine, while Bukchon Hanok Village may offer a broader range of cultural activities catering to its urban location.

Accessibility: Bukchon is easily accessible via public transportation, with several subway stations and bus stops nearby. In comparison, Jeonju may require more extensive travel, as Jeonju is located approximately 2.5 hours away from...

Jeonju Hanok Village, nestled in the heart of South Korea, is a captivating blend of tradition and charm. With its narrow alleyways, well-preserved hanoks (traditional Korean houses), and vibrant cultural atmosphere, it offers a glimpse into the country's rich heritage.

Wandering through the village, one is transported to a bygone era, where tiled roofs and wooden structures reflect the architectural elegance of the Joseon Dynasty. The intricate design of the hanoks, adorned with colorful doors and windows, adds a picturesque quality to the surroundings.

The village is a haven for food enthusiasts, renowned for its bibimbap, a traditional Korean mixed rice dish. The local eateries, tucked away in the alleys, serve up delectable delights, allowing visitors to savor authentic Korean flavors.

The ambiance is heightened by the presence of art galleries, craft shops, and traditional tea houses, providing a holistic cultural experience. The Hanbok (traditional Korean clothing) rental services add an extra layer of immersion, allowing visitors to stroll through the village dressed in elegant attire.

Despite its popularity, Jeonju Hanok Village maintains an authentic charm, providing a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of modern life. Whether appreciating the historical architecture, indulging in local cuisine, or simply taking in the tranquil surroundings, this village stands as a living testament to South Korea's...
