I'm giving this a 4 with mixed feelings, mostly based just on the spectacular setting. The beach itself is gorgeous, transparent warm water, surrounded on both sides by high limestone cliffs, on the left there are tastefully designed houses built into the cliffs, on the right just stone and trees, a stunningly beautiful view. It's perfect for swimming--once you've waded out far enough, it stays shallow for quite a while--and snorkeling, fish swim practically up to the shore. It's great for families with children (parents, there's a playground right on the sand!). And there's no walking, you park and walk 2 minutes to the beach. BUT the easy access and bars right on the beach means it's noisy, the town's a Brit colony (sorry Brits), and talk about being overrun by tourists, many of them young and selfish...the best way to avoid the hordes and enjoy the beach is to arrive very late in the day, at least after 6, but then because of the height and position of the cliffs at that time there's no more sun on the beach, and after a while there start to be cooler currents in between the warm ones. I would go back just and plan to go late, without expectations of a quiet idyllic solitude, just of seeing that...

Read moreA beautiful beach, perfect for families. Lovely sandy, clean beach with crystal clear water & lots of space. It felt very safe for our young child. 2 sunbeds & an umbrella is €20 per day (Sept 23). The sea is very shallow for a long way out so even my 2 year old could stand or swim safely. Pedalos & watersports available. Someone comes round selling fresh fruit each morning. Life guard present. Access is either down a road from the town (10 mins walk) or via a lot of steep steps, not suitable for a buggy (5 mins). Fine on the way down but quite intense on the way up so be prepared, you don’t want to walk up more than once a day as we made the mistake of doing on our first day. The only beach bar/restaurant is tiny & always very busy so I recommend taking a packed lunch with you, especially if you have children who can’t stand & wait 45 mins...
