Castillo Sancho Panza — Hotel in Alaior

Just spent a couple of days at this hotel for my wedding anniversary, basic hotel but very nice atmosphere, couple who run it are lovely and help you out with any issue that might arise, saying that we didn’t have any issues with our stay. Rooms always clean as there is a daily maid service. We had B and B and the continental breakfast is good enough to keep you going till lunchtime. Has a restaurant and bar. And prices are pretty good. Only has a few rooms so not a massive hotel all come with en-suite with powerful shower and importantly they have air con which in June was well used :) only negative was that our room was above the kitchen so we did sometimes have the smells from the ovens outside our window, but as it was sooo warm the air con was on so window was shut. A nice touch was that we were given keys to the main door as after 11pm they are shut so we were able to come and go as we pleased. The hotel doesn’t have its own pool but there is a bar over the road that has a pool you can use. Beach was only a 10 min walk away but I suggest you use the little train that goes from near the hotel down to the beach as the walk back up the steps from the beach are back breaking. There are few little shops around but main shopping is in the capital of Mahón, which is only a 15 min bus ride from the stop about 200 yards from the hotel. Cheap at only 1.70 euros per adult and of course all air conditioned. All in all a lovely break away. Would definitely use the hotel again if visiting this resort in...

Seconda volta in Minorca, isola splendida, questa volta abbiamo visitato la parte est dell'isola. Prenotato con largo anticipo questa location, anche grazie alle precedenti recensioni, ci siamo trovati un incanto. Il proprietario, Rapahel, è una persona davvero fantastica, gentilissimo e disponibile, appena arrivati avevamo un problema di alloggio della nostra coppia di amici, per l’ultima notte, e lui prontamente è riuscito a sistemarli; ci ha consigliato la migliore rent car e grazie a lui abbiamo noleggiato una 7 posti a un prezzo ottimo, calcolando che era a franchigia zero. In località Cala’n Porter a 5 minuti a piedi dalla deliziosa spiaggia, attrezzata (17 euro un ombrellone e 2 lettini: prezzo in linea con tutte le spiagge attrezzate nell'isola), vicinissimi numerosi bar e supermarket; qualche sera allestiscono una sorta di piccolo mercatino, molto caratteristico, dove si può trovare tipico abbigliamento locale stile hippie chic. La struttura, come si evince dal nome, è un delizioso, piccolo castello: poche camere (anche per questo è bene prenotarsi con largo anticipo), sempre pulite e profumatissime, con puntuale cambio della biancheria, dotate di ogni confort, inclusa l’aria condizionata. Colazione senza troppe pretese , ma solo per la poca scelta, ma ottima e abbondante. Noi abbiamo optato per la mezza pensione; la cena comprende una ampia scelta tra vari piatti presenti nel menù (sia carme che pesce), di un primo, un secondo e il dolce e… gradevolmente incluse le bevande, a scelta fra vino a persona (tra rosso, rosè o bianco) o acqua. Consiglio senza esitazione, le portate di pesce, sempre freschissimo: le “Cozze Castillo”, davvero buonissime, i gamberoni grigliati, la seppia grigliata, la sogliola grigliata, ma davvero anche il resto è tutto ottimo e abbondante... ringrazio a nome di tutti per averci supportato nella continua richiesta di pane, baguette freschissime… poi io di pane ne mangio in quantità smisurata (ew i carboidrati!!) e mi sono stati dietro: grazie ancora! Marcos è uno dei camerieri, devo dire tutti carini e attenti alla clientela, ma con lui si è nata una grande simpatia e lo ringraziamo tanto per aver allietato con allegria le nostre serate a cena. Rapporto qualità prezzo senza confronti, difficile trovare una location così pulita, centrale, con uno Staff impagabile e una cucina divina!!! 10 giorni ci abbiamo mandato una coppia di amici per cena e ancora ci ringraziano per come si sono trovati, infatti durante il loro soggiorno ci sono andati tutte le sere. Dimenticavo... ciliegina sulla torta, Raphael si è svegliato presto per venirci a salutare: troppo gentile, persona splendida. Grazie ancora di tutto al meraviglioso Staff......

Humble place with fantastic staff, Rafa as the manager is a great person that treats Sancho Panza as his own home and his guests as family. It is a very good quality-service deal and value for the money. Cozy, quite comfortable, very clean and tidy, quiet, familiar, very good food, fantastic staff and service. Rafa went the extra mile to satisfy a special request i had for my partner and for that i am very grateful! The location of the hostal is not centric as Cala en Porter is a bit far from Mahón/Maó, but it makes it very quiet and relaxed to be there and honestly you're not that far, as it is only a couple kilometers or miles away.
