Mundomar is a good little zoo, with equal attention to land and sea animals, unlike the name suggests. (SeaWorld in English).
It doesn't take long to get through all the exhibits, but all the animals look happy and looked after.
There are three shows to see, a bird show (which was good), a sea lion show(which I missed), and a dolphin show(which was brilliant, and not to be missed.). All of these are free to attend once inside the park.
There are multiple opportunities to interact with animals, however these were very poor. This is because their plan is to take a photo of you with the animals (which they plan to sell to you later), and then move you on so they can do the same to the next guest.
The animal is shoved into your hands, you are asked to look at the camera a member of staff is holding, he snaps a photo, then the animal is taken away, and you are ushered off.
The worst was the lemurs. You are let into their exhibit, and you walk a few metres through the exhibit. I tried to take a photo of the lemurs around me, but was aggressively told, "no photos". They motioned me to sit on a bench, but there was a lemur in the way. Strangely, he just kept telling me to sit, multiple times, even though there was no space for me. I thought he maybe wanted me to just move the lemur myself, so I began to make the motion to push it on gently. This was met with strong No-No-Nos, and at that point he brushed the Lemur away himself. Some fruit was poured into my hand, a Lemur climbed over my shoulder to get the fruit, and I was told to look into the camera. I did so, but my mother was distracted with her lemur. The photographer said " Hello, Hello, Yes, Hello, Look into the camera now please." with an unnecessary aggression. He took the photo, and we were ushered out.
Unnecessary aggression sums that whole moment up, I understand there is a queue of people waiting to get in, but I genuinely never really got a chance to just look at the lemur in my hands. It was sort of sad.
You can pay to get in the water with either the seals or the dolphins. I was told the dolphins are 30€ for 1 person, 50€ for 2. I don't know if the price for the seals are different. We skipped this though.
The dolphin show was really very good. Lots of dolphin and trainer interaction that was cool, they even had small children from the audience in boats which the dolphins jump over. Very impressive, much better than the show at...

Read moreA Thoughtful Perspective on our visit to see the Dolphins.
As someone who genuinely cares about animal welfare, I approached Mundomar with mixed feelings while on holiday. The idea of dolphins in captivity has always been difficult to fully embrace—these are intelligent, social beings who thrive in the wild. But curiosity and a desire to understand more led me to visit, and I left with a more informed and balanced perspective.
Mundomar’s dolphin program has been established for around 30 years, and it’s clear that the animals have formed lasting bonds in a stable environment. The experience wasn’t a flashy performance; it was a calm and respectful display of the dolphins’ natural abilities—leaping, communicating, and interacting with their trainers in a way that felt genuine rather than forced.
What struck me most was how much the dolphins seemed to enjoy the interaction, engaging willingly and playfully. It didn’t feel exploitative—it felt like a mutual connection.
While I still believe the ocean is where dolphins truly belong, I came away with a sense that these animals are deeply cared for. Mundomar doesn't offer a wild setting, but it does offer insight, compassion, and a glimpse of the remarkable bond between humans...
