Horrible
Being asked to pay in full, up front, should have been a red flag.
This campsite is split in two, either side of a busy road. Most, if not all, of the touring pitches appear to be on the side opposite the reception booth, between a very busy little road and a huge school building and its grounds. About 50% of the plots are taken by permanent or semi-permanent British and Dutch caravans.
Starting with the positives, it’s ideally located to get into town, about 5-10 mins for the first parade of shops/bars and about 25-30 mins to Levante beach, all on a gentle downhill slope. The toilet block was apparently refurbished in Dec 2024, so spotlessly clean and with very good hot showers with proper taps and not the push-button type.
Now the negatives. They don’t take ACSI. The touring pitches are small and are all on top of eachother with the exception of the pitches by the road or by the school building which are small but separated by hedges. If you’re unlucky enough to get allocated a pitch on the road side, you are about 15 feet from traffic, separated by a tall thin hedge and wire fence. Even with ear plugs you won’t get much sleep. Apart from the odd exhaust-less motorbike roaring past during the night, traffic generally starts about 6:00 am. If you’re unlucky to be allocated a pitch on the other side, you’re either in the cold shadow of the 8-storey school building (apparently nic-named “the fridge”) with the loudest air conditioning units in Spain or you’ll be alongside the school’s football field. And the kids just love a good kick-about.
They charge extra for electricity at €0.50 per kW which cost us €60 for a week on top of the €26 per night even though we were pretty careful. I’m glad we bought an extra power cable as we had to double up and run the leads across two pitches next to us to reach the power point.
We did ask if we could move but the not very helpful lady at reception who clearly isn’t in her dream job told us there were no quieter pitches available (she did suggest one pitch right next to the football field that would have required a crane to get the caravan into) and that we couldn’t get a refund if we left early. Did I also mention the noisy 8-hour karaoke birthday party from a caravan two along from us?
Will we be...
Read moreWe've been staying here for the last 14 Winters and haven't changed our minds about it being one of the best campsites in the Region. It's THE nearest campsite for Benidorm, there are shops and supermarkets within a few hundred metres, and the entertainment (pubs, clubs and good restaurants) are all within a 5 minute walk. We started coming here with a motorhome and eventually bought a chalet on a permanent pitch. The toilets are well kept and the showers have unlimited hot water. The staff are multilingual, friendly and generally helpful. The pool is lovely and so is the bar terrace. The bar serves meals daily and you can buy bread and croissants to take out. Mussels are available, to order, every Wednesday. Prices in the bar are good although the food is fairly basic. The coffee is excellent. The bottom of the site can flood, but there is a flood plan in place and they take notice of weather alerts, moving caravans to higher ground when there is a threat. (Improved drainage on the bottom would be a bonus, but it's not an issue on higher pitches). I wouldn't recommend parking right behind the Lope de Vega school building in the Winter. It's in the shade and nicknamed "The Fridge" for a reason 🤣. It's a great place to be in the summer though when Benidorm temperatures can hit 40°C If you're going to Benidorm Palace there is no nearer place to stay (unless you can stretch your budget to Hotel...
Read moreWent to get a couple of beers at the bar and the barman that was on told me to put my mask on! Yes I know it's mandatory atm but when I walked in he was talking to a couple at the bar who wasn't wearing them so I thought I don't need to put mine on. When he came to me to serve me he said I had to wear my mask! Maybe because I was English!! The couple wasn't English!! Then went to order a baguette to take away and asked for Alioli sauce with it and was told that the kitchen was shut! The alioli sauce was behind him and he couldn't be bothered to put some in a pot! Was very rude saying that he closes in 20 minutes. How long would it take to pour some in a pot!! ||BTW when we 1st arrived he spoke very good English but he insisted on talking Spanish when it suited him. Only been out a couple of days and never met anyone so rude in my...
