The place is more than beautiful but the staff ruined my engagement… my then boyfriend made all of our friends to go there and PAY the full entrance fee to make it magical for me, and all of us in such a special day. When the moment came, I said yes! But at the very same time someone from the staff told him he couldn’t propose there without BOOKING and PAYING beforehand, my poor love super embarrassed, honestly told her he had no idea of that “rule” and she said: fine, no need to pay… well, let me tell you since we were a big group and everyone came just because they wanted to surprise me, you made more money with us this way than had he booked in advance just for the two of us but the way you ruined that magical, special, unique moment, do you know what? No one deserves that, I honestly feel like taking the videos our family and friends took and show them to the police because I honestly believe it should be against the law… well, at least morally I’m sure it is. So thank you so much for such a lovely moment indeed… by the way, had we had a different approach we may have celebrated our wedding there, but no, we had the wedding of our dreams in a completely different garden and thankfully we’ll never see your rude face ever again. Love is stronger than your rudeness…

Edit: Replying to the answer from the garden since there isn’t an option to do so: How nice of you to say: “we are sorry that your boyfriend…” What a nice way of not accepting what you did and instead of that blaming it on my husband (by the way, why congratulate my engagement when you tried to ruin it and I already told you we’re happily married now, but anyway) Maybe you didn’t understand my complain. Let me rephrase it: Since all you worry about is money, the way hubby did it, having our friends PAY full entrance fee (while, by the way, there was a wedding on the go, which you were getting money from that and still everyone had to pay the same even though most of the time we couldn’t walk around the nicest part of the garden) so you already got all the money and much more that my then boyfriend would had to pay to book our engagement had he known, which obviously he didn’t know… but no, you got all that money and still the staff embarrassed him in front of everyone right after I said I do so believe me, that reply won’t do since you still put the blame on him. And remember you lost big money from our wedding, we did it in another garden after how poorly you treated us and really the best from your garden is the view and that has nothing to do with you, it was already there not made by you so please, start treating your clients like human beings and not like bugs you can destroy whenever you feel like because that’s what it felt like the treatment we received...

I'll start with the positives firstly the views from the coastline once you reach the top of the gardens, honestly are breath taking, we took some great photos and really enjoyed it. Negatives 1) The staff. Once we entered into building we approached the reception desk by saying hello in Spanish the girls at reception continued on with their conversation and ignored myself and my girlfriend. I found them quite arrogant and for what they are being paid for I will never know. They do sweet F##k all, they could have stuck a 5 year at the desk and they would be more welcoming and friendly 2) The price. For what you get to see in the gardens it is over priced. It is falsely adverstied we were told by reception that it takes 1hour 30minutes for a full look around. Me and my girlfriend did it in under 30minutes and we didn't even walk fast to be honest I expected more and I'm easily pleased. On the map of the gardens you are given at reception you see this massive cafe area but when you reach the cafe it is basically the same size as a stall that sells burgers and chips on the street. Everything is over priced as expected your looking at paying 3.50 - 4 euro for a small ice cream. If they haven't nailed you to the cross enough when you initially pass reception you will meet two ladies standing with a cuckatoo and a parrot and one with a camera . They will try and force you to take a photo with the birds and then try charge you for it when your leaving (15euro). The same type of bird I've held several times on the regular in petworld for free. (Ireland). Over all my experience was disappointing. thanks...

Warning: Criminal activity near the garden – do not park here!

I recently visited this botanical garden and want to warn all tourists: be extremely careful where you park around this area. There are organized criminal groups operating nearby, breaking into cars and stealing belongings.

This happened to me in broad daylight. Several cars were broken into – I’m not sure how many, but a few people approached me saying the same thing had happened to them.

We called the police, but they showed no interest in helping. They didn’t come to the scene. Later, I went to the police station myself and was turned away multiple times. They said they didn’t have time to take my report.

After this terrible experience, I found out that a very similar incident happened about nine months ago, when 16 cars were broken into and everything was stolen. Clearly, this is a known issue, and nothing is being done to protect visitors.

This feels like a tourist trap – yes, the garden may look nice, but it’s absolutely not worth the risk. My car was looted, and the experience completely ruined my vacation. It was my first time in Spain, and this changed the way I see the country.

It honestly feels like there is some kind of organized crime behind this, and the police are protecting the criminals by ignoring the problem.

If I had read a review like this before, I would never have gone. Please stay safe and...

After spending a beautiful weekend in Costa Brava, I decided to stop by the Botanical Garden on my way back to Barcelona. Myself and 16 other tourists parked on a street next to the garden per recommendations by the garden. A group of cars including mine were broken into. Windows smashed in. All of my belongings were stolen despite being packed in the trunk. My phone didn’t have a signal so I approached the front desk at the Botanical Garden to ask for the local police number and asked if they could call the police on behalf of the group. The front desk refused to help us and through us out on the street. The entire group (all different nationalities) believes something nefarious happened. Particularly because our passports were removed from our luggage and left in the cars (thank you thoughtful thieves), but everything else was stolen. I have the exact location of my electronics due to Apple’s Find My Device app. The thieves collectively stole $15,000 of electronics from the group. Once we arrived at the local police station to file a report, the police refused to go to the location of the devices despite being a few miles away from the police station. If you are a tourist, avoid this garden and area at all costs.

A nice selection of plants, mostly desert and Mediterranean ones though, so it was mainly a green colour palette. I would have liked to have seen more flowers, perhaps. You could see various crops being grown, including tomatoes, pumpkins, squash, and other fruit, veg, and herbs. The visit involved a lot of walking up and down slopes and steps, so people with mobility problems could have an issue. There were seats and walls to sit on throughout the garden, however. There were a couple of beautiful viewpoints where you could look out at the sea and a small cove. Also, the garden staff were tending to 3 parrots, which they charge you 7€ for a photo with. You cannot touch the parrots, only hold them on your arm. There are also hens in a pen which you can look at. We got our photo with the parrots encased in a plate, which is a cool souvenir. The cafe has some basic snacks. We bought a small cheese and ham pizza for 5€. It was serviceable, but not great. There's a gift shop with lovely photos and small cacti for sale, with reasonable prices. I bought a small cactus for 1.50€. Overall, it's a worthwhile garden to visit, with interesting plants and great viewpoints. You're likely to spend a nice couple of hours here.
