Experiencia nefasta.

What a nice morning we had with Miss Yara Pérez & Bodegas Manzanos! My wife & I visited Haro for 2 days & this was the highlight of our stay. Yara was welcoming, friendly, and knowledgeable about the winery & its history as well as the various grapes used and wines produced by Bodegas Manzanos. Her English is also excellent.

The Bodegas Manzanos winery is extremely conveniently located right in the centre of town (literally a 2 minute walk from the old square).

The tour of the winery included visits to the ancient wine cellar, the wine press, barrel room, and even the rooftop with sweeping views across the town & down the valley.

The visit culminated in a tasting of five wines, each of which was delicious in its own right. There was also a platter of fantastic local cheese & bread to cleanse the palate between each wine.

We certainly have a better understanding of Rioja wines as a result of this tour, and would highly recommend the experience to anyone looking to spend a delightful couple of...

Ruben gave just the two of us a fascinating tour of the old Berceo winery (which is spread over 5 floors including underground tunnels for wine storage) preceded by some local history to put it all into context. We finished up with a guided tasting of 5 of their delicious wines (accompanied by cheese, bread etc.): a crianza, a reserva, a gran reserva, a white made from a mutated Tempranillo grape (which I found especially interesting) and finally their Voché made exclusively from Graciano. It was a very well structured tour, the building itself has recently been sympathetically and beautifully renovated, and Ruben was a knowledgeable and enthusiastic guide. The winery is in the heart of Haro's beautiful old town which was a particular plus for us as we travelled from Bilbao by bus and it was a much shorter walk from the bus station whereas most other wineries are further away on the edge of town. Thoroughly...

So many of the bodegas in Haro have their English tours in the morning. I like wine, but a 10.00 am tour, really? So part of my motivation for visiting Manzanos was the availability of an English tour at 2.00pm. It also looked less corporate than most and the previous reviews on Google certainly helped too. It turned out to be an inspired decision. It was also a small tour group, just 3 participants and Ruben was the perfect guide / host. We learned so much about the history of Rioja, Haro and Manzanos, visited a truly historic winery and sampled 5 excellent wines. Being able to taste various expressions of Rioja side by side certainly added to my understanding and enjoyment. If the wines were the stars, then Ruben definitely was too! His passion for these wines was certainly passed on and it was an excellent and surprisingly quick two hours. I'll certainly be looking out for Manzanos wines in future!

A fantastic wine tour experience through the oldest winery in Rioja. Ruben took the experience to another level with his extensive wine knowledge of the region, sommelier background, and fun personality. He was very responsive to answer questions from our avid wine loving group. The tour and tasting is allotted two hours and the flow is well organized. If you truly love the evolution of winemaking then you don't want to miss this 18th century icon of the region. The tasting consisted of 5 wines (1 white and 4 reds with a cheese accompaniment) which was a lovely showcase of the Rioja appellations and Manzanos craftmanship. For high quality, they offer great pricing direct from the winery. You can't beat this experience. Thank you Ruben! Keep up the amazing work;)
