Literary Cabinet — Attraction in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria

When I first saw the Gabinete Literario in Gran Canaria, I was immediately impressed by its stunning architecture. From the outside, the building exudes an air of classic elegance, with its neoclassical style and intricate details that immediately caught my eye. The grand columns, decorative elements, and symmetrical design made it look like a piece of history, standing proudly amidst the surrounding area.

Even though I didn’t get a chance to enter, the exterior alone was enough to make a strong impression. The façade, with its refined touches, felt like it had a story to tell, and I could imagine how beautiful and historic the interior must be. The building’s combination of classical features with a sense of grandeur really made it stand out as a cultural gem in Las Palmas. It’s not only a disappointment it’s a disaster! due to change of management. This place has become an underdog(?) of gastronomy. Not only we have been there many times before, thrilled by real Spanish/international cuisine in 2022/23… no this year 2024 we planned an extra excursion to the old town just to enjoy this place, and discover that it has gone beyond imagination bad. First all tables are marked reserved ( with no customer is ever in view) then there is an amount of managing personal discussing whatever internal things. When we managed to get allowed to sit at one of the empty tables, we had food that you can find anywhere in the world, in this island, in Spain, wherever you want. Just basic, the only thing which is not basic is the price which keeps up high ranking… probably they only want to serve the club members. I pity them! If you go to your club, and you find food that has decreased in quality to this extent, you can only sit and cry!...

Vamos a hablar de lo ocurrido y de un hecho tan grave, porque nos parece surrealista la actuación del empleado del Gabinete, y también el silencio por parte de la directiva:

Esto ha sucedido con el hombre que está en la recepción del gabinete, de pelo largo.

Íbamos un grupo de 4 personas, que estaban pasando unos días de visita en la isla.

Decidimos ir a visitar el gabinete el sábado 9 a las 17:00 horas. Una de las mujeres empezó a grabar un vídeo del patio central, a esto el hombre, se le dirige muy maleducadamente, espetándole que no grabara a personas, cuando nadie le estaba grabando a él sino al patio.

Acto seguido, y para tratar de ser cortes, y sobre todo que el hombre no se sienta atacado, una de las chicas le pregunta sonriente “que tal estás?”. La respuesta de esta persona es la de “a ti que te importa como estoy?, si fueras un conocido té lo diría pero como no eres nadie…”. Increíble lo de este ser de luz…

Las mujeres siguieron sacando algunas fotos y de repente este hombre se levanta, se dirige hacia ellas y ya les empieza a gritar que “ya vale ya de hacer fotitos, que ya está bien”. Es entonces cuando le digo que todo se puede decir de manera más educada y no tan borde y es cuando se acerca a mi, pega su cara a la mía y empieza a gritarme “fuera de aquí”. Le digo que ni se le ocurra pegarme la cara… y es cuando ya empieza con adjetivos al grito de “te arranco la cabeza”, “eres muy poca m** para mi”, y un largo etc que me da vergüenza hasta describir, e intento agredirnos. Tuvo que separarlo de mi, mi mujer y uno de los camareros del restaurante que salió diciendo que no era la primera vez que ocurría algo así con las actitudes de esta persona.

Nos pusimos en contacto con el gabinete para pedirle una explicación y contarles lo ocurrido. Tras decirnos que ya nos contactarían y seguirle escribiendo mensajes, deciden callar y no contestar más. Prefieren guardar silencio y encubrir a un agresor con problemas mentales, que debería estar encerrado y no cerca de ninguna persona.

No entiendo como un gabinete literario que, debería cuidar el trato al público, es capaz de no sólo dar empleo a una persona así, sino de además, protegerle. HECHO LAMENTABLE, VERGONZOSO, con una directiva que lejos de ser dialogante prefiere ocultar actitudes agresivas de sus empleados.
