We visited the UNED library and unfortunately had an unpleasant experience. Upon arrival, the staff lady present was quite rude, informing us that only UNED students were allowed entry and directing us to a separate area for non-students. When I noticed the historic ceiling and pointed it out to my partner, the staff member abruptly told us we had to leave, stating that viewing the ceiling was restricted to official visits in the morning. I guess non UNED students have to get in blindfolded from now on. It is so absurd that we couldn't appreciate the cultural and educational aspects of the library due to stringent and bureaucratic rules. This level of restriction and privatization on access to educational and cultural resources is as disappointing as it...
Read moreThis is, hands down, the most beautiful library I've ever seen in my life, and trust me, I've seen plenty. The converted building, mixed with the industrial lighting and metallic touches just looks and feels as if you're studying in a Hogwarts-esque place. Even the bathroom is giving historical lol. It's also a fantastic setting if you're looking to study and/or read, because if you get there around noon, you'll 100% be able to find a seat, which is a plus in Madrid. The only two things I have to point out though is that there's no WiFi, which really does suck, and that the location is a bit... We decided to enter and read there a little. This area is only separated by a low wall from the main reading hall and you can still easily see the historical ceilings which we GLIMPSED AT while finding our seats (still inside the area assigned for not UNED students) and the lady freaked out and rudely told us we had to leave immediately and that we tricked her. She said we should walk with our heads down and are not allowed to LOOK at the...
