Restaurante Portomarín in the Lavapiés neighborhood of Madrid is a well-regarded Galician restaurant known for its authentic cuisine and welcoming atmosphere. Situated at Calle Valencia 4, it's conveniently located by the Lavapiés metro station, making it a popular spot for locals and visitors.

My friends and I were there last night, and we enjoyed dinner with traditional Galician dishes such as pulp a la gallega (Galician-style octopus), empanadas, bull tail, and various seafood options. HThequality and freshness of the ingredients. Should be highlighted

On TripAdvisor, Portomarín holds a solid rating, with many diners praising the friendly service and reasonable prices. The restaurant's ability to maintain a genuine Galician culinary experience in the heart of Madrid is a recurring theme in the feedback. Verdict: Rich, flavorful dishes with satisfying textures—great place if you’re craving hearty, well-executed local specialties.

Chipirones a la Plancha (Grilled Baby Squid) | 16,00 € ★★★★★ The legs were fantastically crispy, while the body was soft and grew more flavorful with every chew. The aroma of olive oil made me crave more bread to soak it all up.

Croquetas Caseras de Lacón con Grelos (Homemade Ham & Turnip Greens Croquettes) | ½ Ración 7,00 € ★★★☆☆ Served hot with a crispy exterior and soft interior—good texture overall. Not the best croquetas I’ve ever had, but still satisfying.

Torrezno Ibérico with Mashed Potatoes | 17,50 € ★★★★☆ Rich, crispy, and intense—this fried pork dish brought to mind Schäufele from Germany or Samgyeopsal from Korea. Heavy and indulgent when hot, but delicious. Best enjoyed with wine to cut through the grease.

White Wine | 3,00 € ★★★★☆ Clean and refreshing—nicely balanced, and a good match for both seafood and heavier dishes.

Info The menu is accessible via QR code and includes photos of the dishes, making it easy to know what to expect...

Had a protein feast for dinner~ Everything was good, Octopus Galician style was the best I had ever, fresh and just the right texture. The corpse sea salt add a good flavor just wished it was not that corpse but finer. Grilled cuttlefish was also very fresh, no complaints. oven baked sea bass was a bit overcooked but, fresh, so it made it up. Was very loud in there due to a table of 5 that were laughing so loud, overall on the loud side due to how packed it was. Wine at average 3€/glass, great deal for me ~ I understand the reviews from a few about the “uncleanness”, at the very end, we had an “invited creature” to our table, I ended its visit very quickly. Or else would’ve given a 5 stars.
