Be cordial Green Golf|The apartments are very good, with good facilities, staff friendly and welcoming and the whole complex is spotless and very well ran.|Stayed her early July for a week, couple early 60,s.|I am now going to give the sort of information I was looking for before we came here, please read this to help you decide if the complex is for you as it wont be for everyone.|Accommodation – 1 Bedroom bungalow plus|On arrival you will have to buzz reception on the intercom to get access through the entry gates.|Book in was fairly quick and efficient, we had booked direct but paid on arrival, safe was 13 euros for the week, you are then given room cards and card for gate entry and separate card to reset safe with your own pin number. Staff welcoming and efficient.|We were in a 1 bedroom unit, small patio to front, then living area and kitchen area, couch, tv and small tables in living area.|Kitchen area, breakfast bar and 3 stools, fridge, microwave and 2 ring electric hob. Kitchen was well equipped with decent selection of pots and pans and enough cutlery and crockery for 3 people.|Upstairs is bedroom and bathroom, with small balcony.|No air condition but ceiling fans.|We were located on the bottom left side of the complex apartment was lovely, but after the first night we requested a move, nothing wrong with the room, but this particular location there were 2 rows of apartments that look directly across at each other and we felt this was a bit hemmed in feeling, also this was the main access route for all cleaning and maintenance staff so was quite busy most of the time with people coming and going.|I asked politely if we could have a move and explained my reasoning, the very pleasant lady at reception said she would look into it for me and let me know, about an hour later I received a phone call from her offering an alternative room, very efficient and professional.|We were moved to the other end of the complex with a nice open view to the front.|I was very impressed with the way this request was handled.|Just a bit of info the new apartment was first class as was the previous one, but the units down this area are about 800mm narrower all over than the other ones so a bit smaller but no big deal just wanted to highlight this.|We actually cooked in a few night as the units were that well equipped and it was nice to sit on the patio and just chill, we don’t usually do this.|Complex|This is a fairly large complex with small shop on site, pool bar, snack bar and 2 large pools.|I believe you can get a food package but we were self catering.|Pool bar – friendly staff, good range of drinks and reasonable prices.|Pool snacks, only tried this once and to be honest, as this is the point of a review, the food was not good, we both had toasties with chips, everything cold and the chips were so soggy you could have tied them in a knot, so didn’t order food again, but all drinks were fine, so might have just been a bad day for someone.|Shop - quite small but has the basics, slightly dearer than outside but not overly so and will save you a walk.|Pools – both pools are quite large, they are not the usual boring rectangle shape, the one further to the left felt a bit nosier as it is between rows of accommodation so the noise bounces about a bit.|The larger pool in front of the bar area although busier didn’t feel as noisy as it is more open so noise dissipates more.|Most days by about 9.30 all beds were gone, quite a lot of people us included took 2 beds to the small patio area in front of the unit and this seemed quite acceptable, just be polite and put them back to the pool area when you are leaving to save the cleaners a task.|Location – This is the main bit you should pay attention to, the complex is in Maspalomas, look it up on google earth for better idea of where it is.|You will see reviews saying it is in the middle of nowhere, this is correct, let me further explain.|The area is a large residential estate with easily a couple thousand bungalows, apartments etc, so it is not in open ground but there is very, very little in the area.|You can walk to melonares, to the right when facing the sea, this will take you about 40 minutes, and there are no bars etc on route for a stop.|You can go the other direction into Playa Del Ingles, it is about 35 to 40 mins to the Yumbo centre and about another 15 to 20 to the resort front, also be aware there is a fairly steep hill to get into the area coming out of Maspalomas.|There is a taxi rank just to the left of the complex gates and there were always taxis there, there is also a bus stop couple minutes away, and the complex has a courtesy bus a few times a day, details provided at reception.|Local supermarkets – there is a really good Hiperdino supermarket in Faro 2 shopping centre, this is about 12 mins walk away fairly easy to get to, but google it as you cant see it from the road, the shopping centre is almost deserted now, in its day there must have been about 30 bars restaurants etc here but about 85% are now closed and abandoned so it looks fairly depressing but the supermarket is large and has a good range of supplies.|Extra information – We came here to try the complex on a recommendation from people we met on another holiday, as we were looking for somewhere to try for longer in the winter, ie 3 to 4 weeks, so bear in mind this was July we went in but were looking more to see what it would be like for winter break so might be different in winter.|Overall the complex was always busy, now the next bit is most definitely not a complaint but it is something I think you should take into account.|I would say the complex had about 70 % Spanish people, with a lot of large family groups, sometimes 12 to 15 in a group, this was really good to see sometimes 3 generations all together on a family holiday, but remember the Spanish live there lives loudly 😊, lots of hustle and bustle, music playing, tv,s on with patio doors opened, most groups seemed to do pool till late then eat at accommodation units, it was quite normal for people to be in pool at 11.30 and lots of kids of all ages roaming around the complex, so just be aware if this is not your thing then maybe not the place for you, I should stress that there were no issues but just be aware of the noise, also the accommodation had really good window insulation so when all closed no issue with noise and certainly in our area after 12 it was very quiet, but did see other units further down with music etc going on till early hours, so the point of this is to make your own mind up .|Overview – Overall we were very happy with the accommodation and complex and have no issues with any of it, but we have decided the location is just to out of the main areas for us, we like a good walk but felt it was to far for every time you wanted to go out.|Tips would be book direct with the accommodation BE Cordial, for a better price, we done this after getting last minute flight with Jet2 for 26 each each way this included our 10k cases and done transfers through Holiday Extras, ask for a room to the right of the complex it’s the quieter area.|We will use the group again at one of there other establishments but not this one just because of...
Read moreIt's pretty good for a 2 star hotel. All the rooms are individual bungalows that surround 2 large pools, one filled with warm water the second cold. Each bungalow, although that's a misleading title and they have stairs upstairs which lead to the bedroom and bathroom, are modern and clean. We had 2 single beds upstairs and a 2 seater pullout sofa bed downstairs There's a small kitchen containing a toaster, kettle, microwave, 2 ring hob, coffee machine, sink, fridge, 3 sets of plates and cuttery, utensils, washing up liquid, tea towel, sponge, sugar jar, small chopping board and 2 sharp cutting knifes. There's a flat screen tv in both the longe downstairs and upstairs in the bedroom but you can only get 2 English speaking channels downstairs; BBC World News and Sky News, you can only get Dky News upstairs. It's also has a Netflix and other such channels but we couldn't access them. The hotel promotes free WiFi but you're restricted to the public areas, ie. Dining room, reception and downstairs in your bungalow, we couldn't access it upstairs. There's no air conditioning but there are 2 fans, upstairs and downstairs which are adequate when we stayed in late January. There's plenty of sunbeds available and there's a small shelving unit in tge dining area to pickup and leave books. Tip 1: the best rooms are facing the swimming pools so adk for one of those when booking, unless you're not bothered and prefer a quiet room facing trees. Quiet a few rooms, especially those facing the trees don't get much sunlight so again if you like sitting outside your room in the sun, you're better asking for one facing the pool. Tip 2: the warm pool is much noisier and busier than the cold pool, with the children using it and more sunbeds, if you prefer quieter surroundings ask for a room facing the cold water pool. I swam in the cold water pool every day and it was very refreshing and welcome after sunbathing in 25 degree heat. Each room has a safe, but you have to pay extra to use it. We paid approx. €35 for 3 weeks. The dining room is modern and light overlooking the warm swimming pool with chairs and umbrella's outside that you can also use for your breakfast and lunch. Meals are the usual self service buffet style. We only booked breakfast and it was adequately stocked with all the usual; variety of breads, cereal, fruit, yoghurt, pastries, cold meat and cheese and hot food ie. Small Sausages, bacon, beans, fried, scrambled & hard boiled eggs, hash browns and each day they'd add something extra ie. Mushrooms, pancakes, courgette with onions and peppers, etc. They also serve carva for making bucks fizz one day of the week. There's a coffee machine and a pot of coffee but neither are great. They've also got tea bags, including mint and other herbal teas but a shortage of tea pots, I had to ask most days for a pot. Tip 3: when arriving don't haul your suitcases up the flight of stairs to the reception as you'll only have to take them back down once you're booked in. There's no porter service so I advise your suitcase has 4 wheels. I didn't mention the size of the bungalows, they're the smallest we've stopped in and full of sharp edges, both me and my husband cut ourselves several times on the sharp corners. The stairs are also leathel as they're marble and have 2 corners so they're very slippy when wet and difficult to get your cases up and down. Plus the wardrobes are tiny, approx. 40" x 60" so if you have anything longer than a shirt or blouse they have to hang outside. As I took mainly dresses I never closed the cupboard door, I cannot call it a wardrobe, the whole time I was there. Plus there's no drawers, only a second small cupboard to store flat items ie t-shirts, shorts, underwear etc. The whole storage is woefully too small especially if you're staying longer than 1 week. There is a tiny balcony off the bedroom with a drying rack but it's not big enough to sit on comfortably. There's also a on-site mini supermarket selling the staples, but prices are high especially UK...
Read moreI stayed at the Cordial Green Golf Apartments as a solo guest for 10 nights on a half board basis from 7-Dec-23 to 17-Dec-23. For me, the main thing was to enjoy a quiet and relaxing holiday which I was certainly able to do, thanks to the establishment’s pleasant atmosphere and its location (more about location below.) This complex is officially rated 2 Keys by the Spanish/Canarian authorities, but my personal assessment, based on my own experience, would be at least 3 stars plus. My ratings in more detail … Staff – 9 out of 10 * Most staff were friendly, polite, and professional. In no particular order, this was especially true of the maids/cleaners, reception staff and the breakfast staff. Special mention goes to Emilio and Tamara in reception, Raquel and Susana at Breakfast, my cleaner Cynthia (hope I’ve got the correct name), and the chef who comes from San Sebastian 😊 They were marvellous and a credit to Green Golf. Guests – 9 out of 10 * Most guests were friendly and always on hand for a chat. This aspect made for a good atmosphere and ambience. Room – 9 out of 10 * All apartments are categorised as bungalows, although each has a ground floor and an upstairs bedroom/toilet. I stayed in Room 251 at the end of the complex. It was nice and peaceful there and reasonably close to the pool, although not overlooking the pool. I liked this location. I was more than happy with the accommodation with all self catering facilities at my disposal. I did self catering for lunch on a few occasions. Other times, I used the on site snack bar. As I was half board, I had evening dinner in the restaurant. Service – 8.5 out of 10 * Cleaning provided by Cynthia (hope I’ve got the right name) was excellent. Service provided by all reception staff was good. Service provided by most waiters was exceptionally good. Cleanliness – 9 out of 10 * The entire complex was spotlessly clean, thanks to all the excellent cleaners, pool attendants, gardeners, and other maintenance staff. They work tirelessly and you can see they take pride in their work. Food – 9 out of 10 * The food was excellent. I was impressed with the variety of dishes on offer. I never experienced the “bit repetitive after one week” sentiment that is often expressed by guests in any establishment. I was here for 10 days and ate different food dishes every day! As for the temperature of the food, I found it always to be warm or hot. Well done chefs. Complex amenities/facilities – 8.5 out of 10 * These were very good. I used the two swimming pools several times and liked them both. It is worth mentioning an excellent service that I took advantage of – a free shuttle bus service is operated by Cordial Green Golf; one service goes to Maspalomas and the other goes to Playa del Ingles. Entertainment – No score * I cannot comment on this because I didn’t get involved. Location – 7.5 out of 10 * Green Golf is situated at least 30 minutes walk (well, for me anyway) from Maspalomas town centre. Walkers won’t mind this, but for me the free shuttle bus was my choice! Green Golf felt a bit isolated in respect of the absence of shops and bars on your doorstep. Walkers might well score location higher than my 7.5 out of 10 ! There are supermarkets about a 10 minute walk away, but I regularly used the Minimarket right next door to Green Golf. To my surprise, it was well stocked, and prices were similar to the bigger supermarkets. One important comment… Please, you need to provide better access to the entrance of the complex. Although I managed fine with my luggage, I observed several less mobile people struggle. I helped some of them when the opportunity arose. Install a ramp for people with mobile difficulties! Summary… I award Cordial Green Golf at least 3 stars plus, purely based on my...
