Centre Cultural la Beneficència — Attraction in Valencia

This museum has a fantastic set up and is truly interesting.

Starting in prehistoric times, you walk through the history of the area around Valencia. Neanderthal and early Homo Sapien, through to Roman, Visigoth and up to modern times.

There are examples of early tools and pottery which leads to modern tools and pottery. An interesting comparison. But that's just the surface of what you see here. There are the remnants of a Roman shipwreck, an example of a hunter-gatherer society's home and so much more.

This museum is free on Sunday, but leave yourself at least an hour (2 would be better) to see everything without rushing too much.

My only complaint is that most of the exhibits don't have English descriptions. However, there are papers in English at the start of each area to explain what...

I visited this museum of pre-history on two different days so i could take my time and see everything. On a normal day the cost is two euro, paying when you enter the main building. From the information stand there are museum exhibits to the left and right. Also in the courtyard there are two more museums you can see. In the main building there are three floors of exhibits for each museum. If you carry a backpack or other bags they will need to ne checked in. The staff will lock your bag and give you the key. Es un espacio lleno de bellezas como contenedor y no menos por sus contenidos. Es sede de los Museos Etnológico y de Prehistoria. Es también sede de la Institució Alfons el Magnanim. Mención aparte merece su antigua Iglesia, dentro de un conjunto conventual, con patios y jardines que tiene 5 siglos y que fué iniciado por los Agustinos. Hoy el Centro Cultural se ha reconvertido en escenario para conciertos, conferencias y encuentros. Su artesonado y todo el recinto neobizantino es de superior majestuosidad. La Diputación, dueña del complejo, restauró a inicios de los 90 el Centro Cultural de la Beneficencia de la calle Corona. Todos los sábados y domingos, en horario de invierno o de verano según la estación del año, los patios se convierten en un espacio lúdico y festivo donde un público mayoritariamente infantil puede disfrutar al aire libre de una amplia programación pensada para hacer las delicias de los más pequeños.

Tanto su patios como el magnifico salón de actos, que recibe el nombre de Alfons El Magnànim, están abiertos a que entidades, tanto públicas como privadas, puedan organizar actos lúdicos y culturales.
