Visiting the Art Modern Institute Museum of Valencia was a wonderful experience. The museum itself is beautifully designed, blending contemporary architecture with historic surroundings, which already sets the tone before you even step inside.
The collection offers a great mix of modern and contemporary works, from paintings and photography to installations and sculptures. I especially enjoyed how the museum creates space for both international artists and local Valencian talent—it feels diverse, dynamic, and thought-provoking. The curation encourages you to slow down, reflect, and see familiar themes from fresh perspectives.
One of the highlights for me was the way the museum integrates light and space. The galleries feel open and inviting, and you never get the sense of being rushed. It’s the kind of place where you can spend hours without noticing the time go by.
If you’re in Valencia and want to explore beyond the classic sights, this museum is absolutely worth a visit. It’s not just about seeing art—it’s about experiencing how the city embraces creativity and...
Read moreThe gallery itself was nice and it was good to see some Spanish artists represented. However, our experience was ruined by the security guards, who were so excessive in their monitoring that it felt oppressive and threatening, so we didn’t stay as long as we would have otherwise. They followed us around in each gallery, as though we were being suspected of stealing in a shop. Some even glared at us. They stood in doorways and in front of artworks in a threatening manner. At one point I was yelled at for taking a three second video (absolutely fine to have a no video policy but a sign saying this or a polite instruction at reception would have been much better than aggressive yelling in Spanish when I obviously didn’t understand what was being said). The „security“ high visibility uniforms didn’t help - why not follow the lead of other galleries and just have staff members or plain clothed security. We just visited the Prado and Reina Sofia and the security in these huge international galleries was much...
Read moreWe went here on our trip to Valencia because we like to check out the local art and culture of whichever country we’re in. We understand Spanish well enough and can manage a basic convo in the language (this will be relevant, I promise). No wait at the entrance, and the lady at the ticket office was polite and easy to talk to in Spanish. The expositions themselves were cool, especially the one on local comic artists. The one-star rating is thanks to a single staff member: the little man with a mullet and tote bag. He asked if we’d prefer English or Spanish. Since we can hold a conversation, we said Spanish. Instead of just talking like a normal person, this glorified doorman deliberately sped up to a level I haven't even heard locals use. When we said we’d actually switch to English, this guy legit rolls his eyes and goes like: “Obviously.” Didn’t really ruin our experience, but he definitely needs an attitude adjustment. Chill out my guy, they’re probably not paying you enough to be...
