Beautiful little museum in the heart of Västerås. You can clearly see that the museum was created with children in mind, with lots of interactive learning areas and activities, but there are plenty of interesting things for adults as well. As someone who likes museums I ended up spending half a day in both the museum and gallery as there was so much to read and explore in such a small place but it can easily be done in half the time if you’re pressed for free time in the day. Learning of the history of not only the area but of Sweden as a whole was very cool. Learned a few things even my Swedish partner didn’t know! All for the great price of free!
The only 2 things I would say needed a bit of attention was the smell in the museum, seemed a bit musty or dusty. Read moreI brought my boyfriend with me from the US to show the history and culture of my home town and region. It was such a dissapointing experience. I remember going to the museum as a kid when it was located at the castle and it had great exhibitions about the region from pre-viking era to now. The current exihibitions are scattered, lacking in theme and substance. A few axes, a few coins and a tiny replica of a pre-viking era house. The History of Gaming was equally bad, same with the design exhibition. No thread to follow, no theme.
I know it's free, but it's still not worth it. Don't...
