Lausanne Botanical Garden — Attraction in Lausanne

A small greenhouse but full of tropical plants!! You will find the biggest rarest spices collection in Europe including: nutmeg (Myristica fragrans), clove (Syzygium aromaticum), Cinnamon (Cinnamomum verum and cassia), Star anise (Illicum verum, the true one!!), different pepper (Piper nigrum, Piper sarmentosum, Piper sanctum, Piper borbonense, …), vanilla collection,… tropical fruits trees like Durian, jackfruit, tamarind,… medicinal plants. There is also a huge collection of liana (Aristolochia labiata, Aristolochia grandiflora, Strongylodon macrobotrys (jade liana), Strictocardia behaviensis,…) and a beautiful collection of hundreds orchids and epiphytes. You can go on the passerelle and have a look under the canopy in the middle of hundreds of flowers. We had an intention to go there, but not at the time we ended up there. It was an amazingly beautiful experience. The place is huge, and very well built. There are not much staff, but you can find help or ask questions if you need to. We came there and hour and a half before closing and it was raining as well, but we got the best out of the place anyways.
