Ok hotel. Not a big room(the wall is virtually attached to the edge of the bed, u can hardly get through) ). ||Quite expensive, but u can find offers on several sites (I did on Trivago).IAfter the reservation, Iwrote then 5 times, to ask for one quiet room(since the hotel is right in front of the station) but they never replied.(i started thinkin that something went wrong with my booking, as I never used Trivago). Anyway, I was given one, which was ok. ||Anyway, something not nice happened. One night, I was back at nine. I took a glass of nice flavoured water that they have at reception and went back to my room. As I was very thirsty, I decided to get another glass, so I went back to get one more(RIGHT AWAY). BUT, to my surprise, the water was gone. A very rude guy, without even looking at my face, told me that it was over(which was NOT as I had just taken one glass). (there were 3 guys at reception:2 of the apologised, while the other one, as I said, was really rude).Unbelievable. I want to stress, anyway, that all of the other receptionists have been very nice. ||In the roomnthere is a coffee machine, which can also makes tea., and a mini fridge. Breakfast very expensive, so no point. The shiwer did not work properly, and the hair dryer did not work at all. But I had mine, luckily. ||A very good thing is that, as some othere hotels and hostels do, they give u a ticket to travel around losanna for free. Which is very good, as it is uphill… You get the metro, right next to the hotel, and u go wherever u want. The center is about 15 mi utes walk, but, as i said,...
Read moreA bit of a mixed bag, location is very good for the main station and metro but it's also on a noisy road (to be expected given the location) which was compounded by major building work going on among the whole front of the station, starting at 7am. Also being across from the station the taxi rank was in front of the hotel where the drivers chatted loudly into the small hours. The hotel soundproofing is pretty good when the windows are shut tight, but the noise from outside still penetrated. Bring your earplugs. The next issue is the air conditioning, although there is a control in the room, sometimes it said it is being centrally controlled and sometimes it let you set a target temp, although not very low I think 22c was the lowest. This meant that with the windows shut to keep the noise out that the room could get far too warm, but it seemed a bit erratic. The room itself was good, decent size, two chairs, separate duvets, nice linens, even UK channels on the TV. The place was a bit tired though and the lighting was awful. The bathroom was OK, clean enough, the shower was a bit tight one way, but plenty of hot water. The staff at the front desk were all very nice and professional. Housekeeping quality was questionable as we found an half eaten pizza in a box left on a shelf in the wardrobe area. It's very convenient if you are travelling by train but given the works opposite I can't really...
Read moreI have stayed here a couple of time on business.
The Good:
-Fantastic location - really nice to be able to walk across the road from the station after getting the train from Geneva airport. Lots of amenities and restaurants nearby.
-Great staff - everyone was attentive and helpful. I found my bed too hard and requested an extra mattress topper, completed with a handwritten note from housekeeping. I also had to check out a few days early, and this was handled with ease.
-Wonderful shower - one of those 'rainfall' deals, very welcome.
-Free Wifi is very fast, but suffered a little in the morning peak time. I got 20Mbps up / down in general.
The Less Good:
The style is very 70s, and could use some renovation. The single room at least was quite small and I had to shuffle between the foot of the bed and the wall to get to the desk. I'd call it 'cosy' if I was being generous. The double room I tried 2nd time was a lot more generous.
It's a city centre hotel in front of a train / tram station. It's going to be noisier than some other alternatives. I expected this.
I do intend to stay here again.
Room Tip: See if you can get a room facing away from the station. The view is nice, but the...
