Lotus Pond is a place of contrasts: old and new, east and west, spiritual and earthly, beautiful and tacky. That said, it is so centrally located and such a nice place to take a walk that there really is no reason not to visit it if you are visiting Kaohsiung. On the weekends (and CNY, I am sure), be careful not to trip over all of the selfie taking...

We think its beautiful tgere. We went there for the lantern festival in kaohsiung. And it is nice there. Many different cute lantern around the lake. And the location is not far from city centre. And there are many food stand there as a night market. We think its cool there. They make beautiful and comfortable there. Hope visit again...

Highly recommend visiting at night! Even though you won’t be able to walk through the mouths of lion and the dragon, but the view is breathtaking with all the lights!

Also, take a walk around the lake, it takes about an hour with a rather fast pace, but it’s worth the trouble. Wonderful experience with quite a few interesting temples...

蓮池潭是高雄最知名的景點之一，為各國遊客來港都必訪之地，潭面面積約42公頃，源於高屏溪，清朝時便以「泮水荷香」名列鳳山八景。潭畔大廟林立，慈濟宮、龍虎塔、龜山步道、鳳山縣舊城、啟明堂、春秋閣、北極亭玄上上帝像、孔廟等景點皆有可觀。不僅山光水色迷人，更是聞名全球的宗教地景風景區。 蓮池潭有完整的環潭自行車道，一路平緩好騎，環潭一圈約3.5km；騎著單車迎風感受湖光水波瀲灩，與各色廟宇塔閣爭妍之美，最是暢快。遊客可以高鐵左營站（新左營）為起點，前後站都有Youbike可租借。若以前站為起點，可往南朝原生植物園方向騎去，之後接上自行車專用天橋跨越鐵軌與台17線，便抵達蓮池潭邊了。 其中龍虎塔、春秋閣、五里亭、北極亭玄天上帝像，以及洲仔清水宮的清水祖師像，是蓮池潭周邊最醒目特出的地標，也是遊客流連忘返重地。在此漫步、運動或騎單車，四季晨昏日夜風情各異，相當迷人。
