華山市場 — Attraction in Taipei

Excellent Taiwanese breakfast place, I was skeptical, but sold after trying their food. For those who don't think that it taste any different than their local places, you probably don't have Taiwanese breakfast often and if you don't and/ or having it for the first time, its probably not worth the time to wait on line for this place. The fried dough stick is just a little bit crunchier and lighter, the showbing a little bit tastier (slightly sweet) to warrant the effort to get ther and endure the wait. The salty soy bean milk was excellent, super thick and tasty. the sweet showbing was also decent. overall the food was slightly better then the other Taiwanese breakfast place I have been, but I am picky and this is a town full of excellent places. btw people complain about the wait and then complained that they felt hurried by the staff, well if you aren't then wouldn't the wait be...

This place is super popular. Expect to be in line, sometimes way too long (1h or more of wait). I came in right at 6:30 am when they open and there was already a line. But if you want a taste of the traditional Taiwanese breakfast, this is it. I thought the sesame bread with fried dough was a bit too greasy. If I ever go back, I will stick to the thicker signature bread. The soy milk was very nice. I liked the cold version better. I think the hot version is a bit of an acquired taste item.
