Mont Wang — Restaurant in เทศบาลนครลำปาง

I have eaten in this restaurant four or five times in the past several years on trips to the north when we stop to break in Lampang. Tonight I had a surprising meal – originally the dishes we wanted weren’t available, the waitress said they could only fry fish. There were no salads available. The food that was served was not particularly good. Clearly there is a new chef in the kitchen and not an accomplished one. Finally when we got the bill, it was much more than I expected. Great place to enjoy view of river and bridge when the lights are on at night. Everyone was very helpful, friendly and welcoming. Unfortunately my food choice (Shrimp in Tamarind sauce) was not very flavorful, especially since I had the same dish in Nan recently and it was full of flavor. The fresh coconut juice was very good. Plenty of other people enjoying their dishes, so perhaps it was just what I ordered. Still feel like it was worth visiting for the atmosphere. They also have a stand...

The riverfront restaurant provided us not only a great view of Wang river and Orange bridge but also many tasty Thai dishes including Lanna style hors d'oeuvres, Northern Thai style minced pork larb, Stir-fried crispy pork with chilli and salt, Redtail catfish in clear Tom yum soup. Very delicious ! (Normally, the restaurant has live music but it was cancelled due to Covid pandemic at the time we visited)
