"A place where butterflies heal you." If you are tired of JJ Market, come here to rest your wings. The dome-covered, all-weather facility will show you the richness of Thailand's butterfly species. The compact exhibit shows the process from egg to larva, pupa, and adult with real-life examples to help you learn more about Thailand's butterflies. The dome where the main butterflies are located is a bit hot, so we recommend coming in the morning or evening, or during the dry season if you come during the day. Admission is free, although a brief registry with your name and phone number is required at the entrance. We must thank Thailand for providing this facility for free, where we can see many different species of butterflies every time we come.
Fee: Free of charge Parking: No You must park on the street at kamphaeng Phet 3Rd or park in the parking lot on the Chatuchak Park side and come on foot. (Depending on where you park, it is about a 10-15 minute walk via the main gate. *Attention! If you park on the street on Saturday or Sunday, parking is not allowed in the zone with the red and white zebra on the sidewalk. If you park there, you will have to pay a high entrance fee to the Thai police! Other: There is a section displaying eggs, larvae, and pupae, but the display should be more visible or appealing. I think it is a waste to display something...
Read moreThis is kind of a lush, cool, relaxing respite from the heat & bustle of Bangkok. Very difficult to find. Looks easy on the map but isn't. All the green area shown as park on Google maps isn't. It's dissected by a very busy road & various parking areas. And many of the green areas are fenced off. You take a long trek & end up having to backtrack.
To the left of where the Butterfly Garden is, there's a very nice, expansive park that's almost deserted of people, with extensive bike paths. The only way to find the garden is to locate it on Google maps & keep heading in that general direction
Lots of butterflies mid February. The way to photograph them is with telephoto lens. Sit still for a while in an area with a lot of them flittering around.
Get off at Mochit BTS Station, go south a ways until you find an entrance into park. Head north in park around west side of lake eventually cross road and walk north along sidewalk. Continue until you find a major entrance into the park area to west.
This is the point at which you will probably get lost but wander around till you find extensive bike paths through large park area. Take the right hand bike path but not the one that crosses the river over the bridge and you'll be there shortly. See what I mean, hard to find. Pretty good walk from BTS Station. Didn't see a way...
Read moreSome reviews say there are no butterflies. I stand here today to contradict those blasphemers and enlighten the world to the wonderful natural beauty of this place. Situated in the midst of a wonderful lively park, full of fresh air and squirrels, stands white, circular structure with walls of nets, transparent enough to see the lush greenery inside. After finding the entrance, I wander in, no fee, no charge, no ticket.
On the way in, there are collections of all kinds of insects and arachnids, a majority of which are butterflies. The information signs seemed bery helpful, however, they were written in thai so I was unable to read them.
The butterfly garden itself is magical, transcendent, tranquil. Surrounded by butterflies as I walk around the enclosure, I see 10s of butterflies, many gorging themselves on sweet fruit. There are also friendly bees mingling with the other insects in the insectarium.
I cannot fault my experience here. I am beey glad to have gone while staying at the Bed to Bangkok hostel, which is easily withing walking distance.
If I could post my spectacular photographs I would, however the Google review will not let me at this time.
Enjoy...
