Warorot Market is one of the largest and most popular markets in Chiang Mai. It’s an 11 minutes walk east from the old city walls (Tha Phae Gate). The area is open every day, from early morning (04:00) to late at night, and it is a great place to find everything from souvenirs and handicrafts to fresh produce and meats.
The market is divided into several sections, each with its own specialty. The first section is home to the fresh produce market, where you can find everything from fruits and vegetables to flowers and herbs. The second section is the dry goods market, where you can find everything from spices and noodles to rice and tea. The third section is the clothing market, where you can find everything from traditional Thai clothing to Western-style clothes. The fourth section is the souvenir market, where you can find everything from t-shirts and magnets to carved wooden elephants and Buddhas.
In addition to shopping, Warorot Market is also a great place to eat. There are dozens of food stalls at the market, serving everything from Thai street food to international cuisine. Be sure to try some of the local specialties, such as pad thai, khao soi, and tom yum goong.
Warorot Market is a great place to experience the hustle and bustle of Chiang Mai. It is a shopper’s paradise, and it is a great place to find unique souvenirs and gifts.

Read moreChiang Mai China town is really worth a visit. Here most of the shops are owned by Thais of Chinese descent.
You will also see a lot of old Chinese signs with shop names in the street, not the new signs popping up everywhere meant for the growing amount of Chinese tourist.
The main item beeing sold here is clothes and fabric, the latter from shops owned by Indians.
In the evening there is a big clothes market in the streets, with very cheap prices
My favorite shop in Chiang Mai China town is a more than 100 yeats old family owned traditional medicine shop.
I have been there several times to get examined by the Chinese doctor.
He looks at your tongue and your nails and asks you some questions, then he mixes some herbs for you to take home and make herbal tea from.

Read moreLil grungy but deals to be had. Forget the night markets as you'll find prices here are better and negotiable. Saw a blog where he thought items were bought here and sold for more at the night markets. This is likely true as we found alot of the items sold here were alot cheaper where as the vendors at the night markets didnt budge. Kids out fits for 100baht where as night market vendors wouldnt budge at 250baht for the same items. Same with everything else... best deals we found were in the basement night bazzar. Better buying your goods here on a weekday when the night...
