Anytime I visit a new city, I always make time for a night market. In Chiang Mai, there are several so I made several nights open to go walk them. The main one seems to be east of the walled city, about half a km walk which is quite pleasant in the afternoon/evening. Thousands of stalls are set up along both sides of the road and branch down side streets a bit as well. You can find all sorts of clothing, jewelry, accessories, etc along the main roads.
In the branches off and in several covered venues you find the food stalls set up around a central eating space (one in each covered area) offering Thai, Indian, Chinese, Japanese, and even some Mexican food/street food. They're pretty good so enjoy the music while you snack and make sure to leave them a tip for their service! I highly encourage you to roam the streets, don't be afraid to haggle a little with many of the merchants(though not the food stalls), and follow your ears and nose as you explore this...

The Night Bazaar is Chiang Mai’s nightlife in a different flavor—not clubs or bars, but rows and rows of shops, food, and street performers. It’s noisy, colorful, and feels like a festival every single night.
🛍️ You’ll find everything here—handmade crafts, clothes, paintings, souvenirs, knock-off brands, even random gadgets you never thought you needed. Bargaining is part of the fun, so don’t be shy to haggle a little.
🍢 Food is another highlight. From street skewers and pad thai to fresh fruit smoothies, the whole street smells like a giant kitchen. You can literally shop, eat, walk, repeat.
🎶 There are also live shows, musicians, and street artists adding to the atmosphere. It’s the kind of place where you end up staying longer than planned because there’s always something new around the corner.
✨ The vibe is busy but friendly—tourists and locals mixing, everyone in a good mood.
➡️ My tip: go hungry, bring cash, and take your time. The Night Bazaar isn’t about rushing through—it’s about wandering, snacking, and soaking in the energy of Chiang...
