Tom Yum Thai Cooking School — Attraction in Chiang Mai Province

INCREDIBLE! I wish I could give Oun and his wife a 10/10 for this cooking class.'

From start to finish, we were amazed. We started out by Oun and his wife picking us up at our hotel and then stopping at a local market. Oun was very knowledgable on all of the different foods and was awesome at explaining them to us! We got to purchase some products for our cooking class that evening, which was also cool! The locals all seemed to know each other and everyone was so nice!

From there, they took us to their house (so awesome/nice of them). We prepared 6 courses and were able to pick what we wanted to eat. Normally he hosts up to 10 people but we were the only 2 that booked for that evening so we had our own private class, which was incredible! We got to learn a ton about thai cooking and the thai culture from Oun! (He even told us some places to visit that only the locals go to, also way cool of him!)

The food was absolutely incredible, I can't rave enough about it and had no idea I had that personal skill haha!

At the end Oun gives you his recipe book, which includes all recipes that he offers not only the ones that you prepared. Really neat and plan to use that cookbook now that we are back home!

Overall, the experience was amazing and I would highly recommend to anyone and everyone to do this cooking class! Very laid back staff and incredible food for all! What a good choice we made to come here. From booking and communication regarding our cooking school course. We were picked up from our hotel and went to a local market where we collected some of the ingredients for the cooking course and got information on what was for sale at the market, which was very interesting.

We were then whisked away to the cooking school and given some snacks and water (it was needed as a very hot day)

We cooked an appetiser, soup, made our own curry paste, a curry to use the paste, and mango sticky rice.

The cooking and prep were great fun, and the right balance of cooking knowledge and banter.

The food we all cooked was top-notch, and you also got a digital recipe book and photos sent to you that were taken during the morning.

Booking & Communication: Booked this cooking class last minute (the day of) and they were able to take us in for the evening class as requested. Clear communication and helpful information when I booked via WhatsApp; they provided the menu, directions, and pictures to their location. I think they usually pick-up at your hotel, but we were pretty far.

Market & Cooking The local market was incredible, I expected to choose our own vegetables, but instead we went to a preselected stand and after some explanation of the veggies, they were put in our hands baskets. I imagine that is to save time.

Nonetheless, we spent the perfect amount of time at the market and even had time to explore a bit independently.
