Writing this as a snorkeling guide if you are not getting a boat there. We went in may which may effect the current and could be better other times of year.
We walked from the pier to get here, took us about half an hour. The last path would be quite tricky if it had been raining heavily. The beach is really nice. We started off snorkeling at the northern most part of the beach in the buoyed area. Not much reef and strong currents, however did see an eel, a pufferfish and a flat fish as well as the normal reef fish.
We then tried to snorkel at shark point but the current between shark point and the closest part of the beach is crazy strong. We were swimming into it and were literally not moving, so be warned! We saw other people attempting and failing also and getting swept off. Luckily the current just pushed us towards the buoyed off area by a resort. There was lots of fish to see along the way and next to the resort and saw a sea snake to.
After that we just snorkeled out parallel to shark point a bit further north hoping to see sharks. The current was still really strong so will be difficult if not a strong swimmer or don't have finn's/flippers. I recommend hiring some at a dive shop before attempting it. The current was just going towards the beach though so not as dangerous. We went really far out and started seeing some really nice reef and fish. We saw 3 sharks going past, which was really cool, saw a big porcupine pufferfish and a lionfish.
Another point worth making is there's a lot of boat traffic here, we went late in the day about 5pm-6:30pm to avoid this and also we have a luminous float so we can be spotted. I would recommend going in a boat to get to the best bits if you don't have the equipment.
We really enjoyed our snorkeling here however it is pretty sketchy with currents and boats going past...

One of the best things about Long Beach is that it's not just a beach, but it's also surrounded by lush greenery, which creates a serene and tranquil environment. You can go for a stroll in the jungle or enjoy a picnic on the beach under the shade of the trees. Long Beach is also a great place to watch the sunset. As the sun goes down, the sky turns orange and pink, and the cliffs light up with a golden glow, creating a spectacular sight. There are a few restaurants and bars on the beach where you can enjoy a meal or a refreshing drink while taking in the stunning views. However, prices can be higher compared to other places on the island due to its popularity. Read moreGorgeous. White fine sand, warm turquoise blue water, stunning views. The snorkeling, plenty of small fish, clown with some cool colors, couple pufferfish but the coral is shot. Sun bleached or other. I went out towards black tip shark point but way to many boats in-between so no sharks. Better snorkeling towards and in front of black tip shark point. As you go around towards Viking beach it's shallow and murkey.
Rent mask and fins at Let's Sea Bar for 100 Baht (1,000 Baht cash deposit) - so worth it instead of carrying around gear.
Lastly, do not listen to Google Maps if you're going to Long Beach from Phi Phi. It takes you up this main road with 300 feet of elevation. Follow the beach line to the left and there's a lovely path you follow...
