This was super expensive,, 400 baht for 15 minute elephant ride be prepared to spend lots of money here, the all day ticket price for the ruins is 220 baht, and you have to pay to get there. I spent about 40 baht on the sky train 20 baht on the subway and another 20 for the regular train (amtrak style) then I spent 500 baht for a run tuk driver but he knew the way and he spent 5.5 hours driving me to all the temples and any where I wanted to go he was a very nice gentleman he waited patiently while I took pictures and even offered to take some pictures of me as I was alone, my suggestion is take a group maybe of four that way you can split the tuk tuk money that's one way to save other then that it was beautiful I really enjoyed the ruins although most looked alike and you could barely tell the ruins apart from one location to the next it's definitely worth a e spending the night and renting your own scooter, but it's a lot bigger then the little map suggests, if you were there for a few days the all place tickets are good for multiple days I found myself running from picture to picture and it still took quite awhile, be careful on the train ride home as alcohol is illegal on the train and at the train station so come prepared I put my alcoholic beverages in a plastic container and none bothered me. There is plenty of good street food to eat and I enjoyed it along the way, at the end of my journey I stopped at the little restraunt at train station called The Station, they had great food and great service as well as the people were super nice, then I got the cheap tickets and spent the same amount to get home as I did to get there overall I spent about 1600baht or so with food and beverages, you will need lots of water and some snacks, I suggest paying extra for the nice car with the captains chairs and on the way back that car also had air conditioning so foe the extra cost it's worth it. This place is beautiful so it is worth the money depending of toy have it or not I hope this...
Read moreThe first thing I look out for in an elephant tourist attraction is the treatment of the elephants. The elephants didn't have the ankle chains. They only had them loosely around the neck to secure them. No sign of animal cruelty, apart from their being captive animals. They sold food for tourists to feed the elephants and they were in little shopping carts, not shabby for 200THB. This was a delightful activity for both people and elephants. There was photo taking with a baby elephant, which was interesting and not abusive. I don't know enough about elephant rides to comment knowledgeably. Some places have people ride directly on the elephants with a simple harness. I believe our human weight is nothing to elephants. Here there's a sheltered carriage on the elephant, and the elephant didn't seem bothered by them. The price for elephant rides was not good. The rides were priced at 300THB for 2-6 people (not sure what that means), but at the booth, it became 500THB per person. That feels like a tourist trap pricing. If you're there for the ride, you may not be treated fairly. We were there to feed the elephants so it was an enjoyable, cruelty...
Read moreRecommend for a quick stop to see and feed the elephants but not to ride them on your tour around the former capital city of Thailand. The elephants were chained by their feet and the trainers used sharp mental sticks while riding on them. It seemed very cruel to treat elephants that way. The ticket price was 400 Thai Baths per each foreigner (a Thai citizen with a Thai ID card paid less) for a less than 10 minutes ride around the street, mostly for photos opportunity, not long enough for experience sake. You probably would only remember the elephant trainer poking at the elephant to lift his nostrils for cash. The restroom was okay but must pay for 3 or 5 baths to use it. The coffee shop there was nice too but slightly overpriced as expected for a tourist destination. Do not ride on the elephant, just feed them and talk to them. The vendors sell baskets of elephant food. One of the elephants refused to eat...
