Peaceful & Scenic Rawai Beach – A Hidden Gem Worth Visiting! 🌊🌅
During our trip to Phuket, my wife and I spent a relaxing day at Rawai Beach, and it turned out to be a hidden gem away from the usual tourist crowds. While it’s not the typical "swimming beach," it offers a unique charm, stunning coastal views, and some of the best fresh seafood we’ve had in Thailand!
What We Loved 💙
✔ Breathtaking scenery – The peaceful ocean views and the long stretch of palm-lined coastline create the perfect setting to unwind. Sunsets here are stunning, making it a great spot for photography and quiet reflection. 📸🌅 ✔ Seafood paradise – Rawai Beach is famous for its fresh seafood, and it did not disappoint! The beachfront seafood markets and restaurants serve incredibly fresh and delicious dishes. If you’re a seafood lover, this is a must-visit spot. 🦞🍤 ✔ Laid-back local vibe – Unlike the busy tourist beaches, Rawai has a calm and authentic feel. It’s more of a place to relax, explore local culture, and enjoy good food, rather than a party or swimming destination.
Things to Consider 🚦
❌ Not ideal for swimming – The beach is lined with boats, making it more suitable for a scenic walk rather than a swimming spot. However, you can take a boat from here to nearby islands with beautiful beaches. 🚤🏝️ ❌ Far from main tourist areas – Rawai is located on the southern tip of Phuket, which means getting here can be expensive if you rely on taxis. We highly recommend renting a moped or a car to explore the area more conveniently and save on transportation costs. 🛵🚗 ❌ Limited activities – If you’re looking for water sports or nightlife, you won’t find much here. Instead, Rawai is best for relaxing, dining, and enjoying nature.
Local Guide Pro Tips 🔥
✔ Rent a moped or car – It’s the best way to explore Rawai and nearby attractions without spending too much on taxis. 🚗💰 ✔ Come hungry! – The seafood here is some of the best in Phuket. Visit the Rawai Seafood Market and pick your fresh catch for a truly authentic meal. 🦐🍽️ ✔ Take a boat tour – Rawai Beach is a great starting point for island hopping. Consider visiting Coral Island or Koh Bon for a fantastic day trip. ⛵🏝️
Final Verdict
Rawai Beach is a peaceful escape from Phuket’s crowded tourist areas, offering beautiful views, fresh seafood, and a laid-back atmosphere. While it’s a bit out of the way and not ideal for swimming, it’s absolutely worth visiting if you’re looking for a more authentic, relaxing experience. Just make sure to rent a vehicle to get around easily!

Read moreThe southernmost beach in Phuket.
Not the cleanest or most swimming friendly place as this is a major landing and departure point for a lot of the island tours.
The sand is kind of claggy and there is a constant smell of gasoline from all the moored boats.
Very picturesque though, with the islands just offshore and the myriad boats bobbing up and down in the water.
Lined with restaurants and the usual mandatory massage places, this beach epitomises "small" Phuket.
Unfortunately someone has bought out a huge tract of land and demolished almost a fourth of the shops on the seafront. Destroying the character of the place with what will no doubt be some monstrosity.
Parking is disciplined with all the two wheelers lining the beach side of the road. There is plenty of well demarkated four wheeler parking on the land side of the road .
At the entrance to the pier there is a you-buy, we-fry fish market combined with food stalls and restaurants where your fresh purchase will be cooked up in a style and taste of...
