Odean Shopping Mall is one of the older shopping malls in Hatyai, and visiting it gave me a small glimpse of how local shopping centers might have felt years ago. I decided to drop by while exploring the city, and it was an interesting stop, though I wouldn’t say it’s a must-visit destination unless you are nearby.
The staff I interacted with were friendly and attentive, which made the short visit pleasant. Even though it’s not a modern, upscale mall, the service attitude was welcoming and polite.
The environment definitely has an “old school” charm to it. Odean is not a flashy shopping mall – instead, it feels like a place where locals come to buy everyday items. You’ll find clothing and variety of groceries, local snacks, and other essentials. It is not very big compared to newer malls, but it has its own unique character.
In terms of pricing, the clothing items here are not particularly cheap, so if you are bargain-hunting, you may not find the best deals. On the other hand, the snacks and groceries sold here are quite reasonably priced, and you can pick up some local treats or souvenirs to bring home.
I did not watch any of the night shows that some visitors recommend, so I can’t comment on those. From what I have heard, some people do purposely visit Odean in the evening to watch the night performance, which might be worth checking out if you enjoy local entertainment.
Overall, Odean Shopping Mall is a decent place to stop by if you are passing through the area. It’s not necessarily a destination to plan your day around, but it’s good for a quick browse, especially if you want to shop for snacks or see a more traditional side of...
Read moreOn the third day of our holiday in Hatyai, my friends n I went to this shopping mall for some last minute shopping before leaving for KL the next morning. We strolled over here after our dinner at a Thai Chinese restaurant. This shopping mall is huge with 5 floors selling all types of foodstuff with a food court n various goods such as shoes n accessories, bags n suitcases, t- shirts n blouses n shirts, dresses n shorts n long pants. In fact all types of gents n ladies n kids apparel. Whatever you want or need, you can find n get it here. I find this is a better place to shop than the Kim Yong market . If there’s a promotion, you can even get things at a cheaper price here than elsewhere. No need to bargain or haggle over the price like in the Greenway Night Market place. We should have come here earlier cos we can shop in comfort in an air- conditioned environment . Furthermore our Centara Hotel where we stayed is also just within walking distance. I bought a dozen shorts for my sister back home. I also bought a pair of comfy sandals n some packets of Thai fried snacks for my nieces n nephews. I was so busy shopping for all these items that I forgot to take any photos of this wonderful shopping mall. Rest assured I will be back sooner...
Read moreThis shopping mall is near my hotel so it is very convenient to visit. Visited almost daily and everyone there is sthg to buy.
Weekends is a better time to go, when I went, there is a snakehead brand pop up booth. Bought some stuff and played with the spin the wheel game.
Upstairs has a daily big supermarket, lots of stuff up there. From bags, shoes, wallets, toys, household and stationery.
Bottom level is more of apparel. Near the escalator, We bought many shorts, there was a very helpful sales lady. She is supposed to be at the webearbare section, but came over to help. Went to cashier with us and tried to help us get VAT.
In the end we bought sthg from her too and tipped her as we enjoyed her assistance.
Overall, this mall that is near the hotel belt, has quality items, some at night market cost or cheaper, but some better quality ones of coz more expensive.
Aircold is cooling, layout is good.
Go visit. Tourist souvenirs, local delights are also sold there in...
