We spent our first night in Betong taking it slow. After dinner, we visited the Mongkolit Tunnel and stopped by to see the giant chicken statue nearby. There was also a small night market selling clothes in the area. No flashy or colorful lights during our visit — just a calm, quiet atmosphere. Nothing much going on at night, especially since we had already covered most of the main attractions during the day.

The Mongkolit Tunnel, known as the first and largest tunnel in Thailand, was part of our route. Honestly, there wasn’t much to see inside, but at least we can say we’ve been there. It’s about 3km from our hotel, so we took a tuk-tuk ride instead of walking.

After Mongkolit, we continued strolling around the town. We also stopped by the famous Betong Clock Tower. If you’re looking for the replica of Thailand’s biggest mailbox, it’s just beside the tower — worth a quick photo!
