If I could give negative stars, this place would be swimming in them! Where do I even begin? The lack of professionalism here was something straight out of a "How Not to Run a Hotel" manual. The male employees—at least the unlucky ones who crossed our path—seemed to have mistaken the hotel for a dating app. We had the full spectrum: cringe-worthy flirting, beach invitations, requests for our personal info (Instagram, phone number—they only stopped short of asking for our social security numbers), and one guy who decided that sending heart gestures our way was the height of charm. And these were the nice ones. The others? They had all the warmth of a brick wall and clearly couldn't care less about our complaints.
Now, the room... Ah, the room! It was a masterclass in discomfort. Dirty sheets—one with a cigarette burn for that special "vintage" touch—and pillows that felt like they were stuffed with rocks. Dust everywhere, but who needs clean air when you're already suffocating under the weight of this much incompetence? And just when we thought it couldn't get worse, the electricity decided to take a day off. Yes, a whole day without power, despite our repeated pleas for help. The staff? They were too busy laughing, flirting, and generally ignoring us to care, until they finally "fixed" the issue in the most high-tech way possible: jamming a piece of cardboard where the key goes. Pure genius! Oh, and let’s not forget the cherry on top—when one of these "helpful" employees came to fix the phone (because, of course, that was broken too), he thought it was the perfect time to ask for my age, name, and Instagram handle. Nothing says "safety" like a guy with a master key and access to your social media!
As for the "four or five stars" this place supposedly has, they must be as invisible as the cleanliness and professionalism around here. Broken tiles by the elevator, bathrooms with a stench that could knock you out, and floors perpetually soaked in water—it seems the concept of mopping is entirely foreign to them.
And the food—oh, the food! If you're the kind of person who enjoys living on the edge, forget skydiving and head straight for the salad bar here. Nothing like a game of "Will This Make Me Sick?" to spice up your day. The salads sit out all day, unrefrigerated, gathering all the local wildlife. And the pièce de résistance? A cockroach, casually strolling next to us during breakfast. The waiter, with the calm of someone who clearly sees this every day, just shrugged and said, "It’s normal, don’t worry," before half-heartedly attempting to squash it with a napkin, then seamlessly returning to his favorite pastime: flirting.
And if you're dreaming of a pleasant buffet experience, think again. It’s more like entering the Colosseum, where you must battle your fellow guests for food and water. If, by some miracle, you manage to reach the grill, don’t get your hopes up—the meat is so tough, you’ll be Googling local dentists by the end of the meal.
And don’t worry if you’re not interested in a tour. The staff will absolutely respect your "no"—by asking you again every second of every day, just to make sure you’re still not interested. Their persistence is truly commendable, almost as commendable as their complete inability to take a hint.
But hey, if you’re into rock-hard beds, cockroach companions, and the thrill of fighting for your food, this is definitely the place for you.
But in all seriousness, as three women traveling together, we have never felt more unsafe. The constant advances, the inappropriate questions, and the general disregard for our privacy left us feeling vulnerable the entire time. The fact that these employees have access to our rooms only made matters worse. This is not just unprofessional; it’s...
Read moreI booked this holiday nearly a year ago.... we wanted somewhere different, not a common brit holiday destination.... the closer it got, the more I worried though.... almost paid extra to change destination and go somewhere more well known.... I am so, so pleased I didn't! What a lovely hotel and area. We arrived at night.... about 8.30pm... went to check in, but immediately we were given our all inclusive bands, luggage stored safely and told to go and get dinner, and check in after (as dinner service stopped at 9pm).... we were shown to a table, everyone was so pleasant, greeting us. The hotel itself is clean and spacious, with good facilities (lovely outdoor pool, indoor pool and spa area, tennis court, private area of beach, 24 hour bar inside serving alcohol, non alcoholic, tea, coffee, bottled water etc. Bars also poolside and at the beach. Excursions can be booked at the hotel. All well run and reasonably priced. The quad biking was great fun! We were out from 8am, and arrived back to the hotel around midday. €80 each. There is a shop inside the hotel run by a lovely man. Nothing is too much trouble and there is no pressure to buy anything. He's just happy to chat! Same can be said for the hotel photographer! Chatted to us daily, always asked how we slept, if we had a good day etc. The entertainment team are all lovely too, and not pushy. May ask if you want to do an activity (archery, darts, aqua aerobics etc) but take no for an answer and move on.... some will sit and just chat, if youre happy for them to (they do ask first). I had a lovely massage and facial in the spa (cost be £60 for both!). The restaurant and bar staff are great... very attentive.... and not just because of tips... we did tip, but after we had great service, the service did get even better after we tipped (reserved table and drinks to the table etc) but the service of everyone was exemplary.... every person we came into contact with wanted to ensure we were happy and having a good time. The food was the best Ive experienced from an all inclusive.... even had fillet steak on Saturday night!
The location of the hotel is great too... pay a little extra for a sea view - its definitely worth it! Outside the hotel there are shops along the sea front, and around the back... including Yasmine Hammamet Medina. Yes, a lot of the shop workers approach to ask you to look in their shop, but you just say "no thank you" and keep walking.
All in all, we will definitely book to go back to Medina Solaria and Thalasso hotel. Its been a lovely stay, and just...
Read moreWhile I am writing this review, my husband and our 1 and a half years old daughter are at the hotel. I have chosen this location based on the other reviews but I was wrong. We have been to many other places around Europe and even Africa but we never saw such an "all inclusive" concept...this is more like a full board with drinks. If you are in a mood for a snack, or you have a small baby who needs to have a snack, you can forget about it...you don't have any!!!! Today I wanted a snack for my baby and we were offered the left overs from breakfast. I don't understand why other people say food is good and varied...it is not true: they have very limited options of food (maximum 2 types of meat lunch and dinner), maximum 4 kinds of fruits (all days the same, not even 1 banana), no bacon or salami or sausage for breakfast, no decent cereals (like oats), as for "healthy" food...you have only salads without any taste. You don't know what you eat because nowhere is written. There are a lot of waiters in the restaurant and they are busy working but our impression is that their main concern is to keep the consumtion of food at the lowest level . The same for the chefs...they come out in the restaurant but not to see if the turists are happy with the food or to see if something is missing...but to keep the cost under control. Don't get me wrong,I am not a picky person and for sure I don't go in holidays to get my belly full, but when I have trouble finding decent food for my baby (that eats everything in general, like we do), then I get angry. My baby ate for 2 days only potatoes, bread and tomatoes + the 4 types of fruit offered because there is no decent cooked meat that she could eat. Me and my husband eat because it is a basic need but we don't enjoy it because it is blend and tasteless. The drinks are acceptable, except for the coffee, which is awfull. What I find unacceptable also is that to a 5 ☆ hotel, with all inclusive you get 2 bottles of water of 0,5 liters/room at the begining of your stay. Yes, you take more yourself, but considering the stars... The only good part is that the rooms are nice and clean and the pool enjoyable. Defenetly not a 5 ☆ hotel and I would not recommend it especialy if you have small kids. Also, speaking about babies: no kettle available in the room for warming the water for baby's milk. PS We are not the only ones here that have the same problem. First time in Tunisia and defenetly the last. Big...
