This museum lies against the outside of the city wall, and is fairly easy to get to if you are wandering the Medina. Otherwise it is located on a significant road, so you can get a taxi to it easily. Cost was around 10 TND per adult and child was free on our visit in Feb 2019. It was a fairly quiet day while we were there which gave us space to see the museum and courtyard and views from the building. The display areas are very modern while the building itself is the old fortress. We had wanted to see the Tunis Bardo Museum mosaics but that wasn’t going to work out, so we made sure we got to this museum. What we saw here far exceeded our expectations - there are some remarkable mosaic examples on display and other interesting and very old artifacts from the area. Several of the mosaics are simply spectacular, and the collection has a good range of eras and styles on display. It certainly helps to know a bit of history of/from the region first, so don’t do this on your first day. We sent about 2 hours there, and our child found plenty to see and examine... which made things easier as a traveling family. Some items you may need to explain or point out context for their historical context for your kids. It is easy to miss some of the details in the mosaics if you don’t read the plaques carefully (that goes for both adults and children!). Item descriptions are written in Arabic, French and English.

When we mention Sousse we definitely say mosaics and history and culture. The museum of Sousse is one the amazing place to visit and learn about art, culture, creativity and of course history. The museum consist the best collection of mosiacs in North Africa. These mosaics are crazy detailed. Think tiny pieces of colored glass and stone arranged to create everything from mythical creatures to lively market scenes. The artists who made these were amazingly skilled. They used those tiny pieces to create realistic figures and capture the flow of clothes or the glint in a hunter's eye. The museum definitely offers a peek into a world of color, craftsmanship, and the stories of everyday life in a long-ago time once upon time in Byzantine/Roman North Africa. I would highly recommend visiting this place whenever you are in Sousse.

Very interesting museum with lots of exhibitions. The garden is very immersive, and the views from the terrace are beautiful. There are lots of pieces for history lovers. The museum is also adapted to blind people with special descriptions in braille and pieces that are intended to be touched. The ticket price was 5 TND (~1.5€) for people coming from the Maghreb (Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria, Mauritania, Libya). The staff is extremely friendly and welcoming.

The Sousse Archaeological Museum is a Tunisian museum located in the city of Sousse, ancient Hadrumète, since 1951. It has the largest collection of mosaics in Tunisia after that of the Bardo National Museum. The Sousse Archaeological Museum was founded in 1951 and occupies part of the ancient kasbah of Sousse built from the 9th century. Located on the current avenue of Marshal Tito, it replaced a smaller structure that existed in the European city

This museum has one of the best collection of mosaics in Tunisia. Truly stunning and magnificent pieces, such as the baptesterion (one of only three found in the country), Medusa, Bacchus, the actors, and others, many of them fresh and almost intact. The presentation generally helps you appreciate their artistic value, although this is not always easy as many of them are massive. It was one of my most memorable experiences from Tunisia!
