The 5-line, embossed inscription on the 4-meter-high, very narrow entrance door with a round arch, which is entered from the old port in the north-west direction, stands out. I.The first line of the inscription, which praises Alaaddin as the sultan of the land and the two seas, can be seen in the middle of two rosettes, with the sultan's coat of arms. The protruding area on the right side of the entrance door was used as a mosque, while the area with 5 windows on the left side was used as an office by the shipyard officials. The shipyard structure, which is 57 m long and 40 m deep, consists of 5 vaulted chambers, each 7.70 m wide, the longest being 43 m and the shortest being 32 m long, and pointed arch walls separating the chambers from each other. The walls of the shipyard are made of cut stone, the arches and vaults are made of brick. The openings in the vaults allow both light to enter and smoke to exit. The land sides of the eyes, where the sea does not completely enter, are partly pebbly and partly rocky. There is a fresh water well on the black side of the third eye. The shipyard structure is positioned to make the most of the sunlight and is built at different levels to minimize rock breaking. A warehouse carved into the rock adjacent to the shipyard is illuminated through a hole in...
