The castle is a great place to spend an afternoon.
Easily accessible by car with typical mountain roads, twists and turns with a few tight spots but nothing too difficult. Parking is plentiful and free inside the castle; but this may change soon as a new security box has been built and charges could be applied.
On foot you can walk all the way up via various routes, the path isn't perfect or existing for the entire route so only suitable for very able bodied people.
The alternative is the gondala which takes you 85% of the way and stairs the last 15%.
In the castle there's many options for food; from traditional street food to high end restaurants. Shopping from local artisans is plentiful and you'll find something unique here for sure to capture the memories.
The castle itself it well preserved and looked after. Much has been lost to time and earthquakes but some areas are restored or undergoing restoration. Read moreWorth getting up there but I would not pay for entry again. Out of two places you can enter we could find entry to only one. When we went to ask the person selling tickets he was on phone - constantly - and avoiding us. So we could only see the Ehmedek from outside, possibly it was closed for repairs. The other place had good viewpoints and a guy with parrot inside. Ah, and some more ruins .. but you are not allowed to explore inside buildings and dungeons. Plenty of the same to see...
Read moreI visited Ehmedek Kalesi and would give it 3 stars. It wasn’t bad, but it also wasn’t super impressive or “wow.” The view was just okay – not something that really stands out compared to other spots in Alanya.
One important thing to note: the site has a lot of stairs and requires walking downhill on a slope. If you are visiting with older people, it could be quite difficult for them to manage.
Overall, it’s fine to see if you’re already in the area, but not...
