An Incredible Pottery Class Experience Taking the pottery class was an absolute delight! From start to finish, it was both fun and rewarding. The atmosphere was welcoming and creative, making it the perfect place to learn and experiment. A special shoutout to Davud, who went above and beyond to make the experience unforgettable. His patience, expertise, and humor truly stood out. Whether it was demonstrating techniques, guiding us step by-step, or helping with the finishing touches, Davud was always there to ensure we succeeded. By the end of the class, I walked away with a beautiful piece I created myself and a newfound appreciation for the art of pottery. I can’t recommend this class enough it’s a must try for anyone looking for a unique and inspiring experience!

We visited Cappadocia and decided to take a Turkish wheel throwing class. I’ve been doing wheel throwing before but this is a bit different from the regular wheel. It is a fun experience and we learned about the history of the town. Hassan and his cousin (sorry I forgot your name 😂) are very kind, welcoming and showed us step by step. It’s a small class so you can ask questions as well. After the class, Hassan also showed us his work - very intricate and reflects the Turkish culture. Its perfect for a date night, or just to learn something new with your friends/family The studio is close by many public sculptures, coffee shops, local restaurants, art galleries, pottery shops, ice cream shops, so you can spend some time there before/after class too.

We had such a great experience learning pottery here. Not only did we get to watch a master work, but we got to try it out ourselves. We had great instruction on how to create our pottery pieces (we chose vases, but the options are open to what seems like most anything), and we got to take the pieces home with us. If we ever made a mistake during the process, they were quick to help us correct it. We learned how to make pottery, but also learned of a bit of the history and of the techniques behind the masters. They were very welcoming, safe, and easygoing. It was a relaxing and enjoyable time. HIGHLY RECOMMEND this experience. +Plus, you get apple tea (or Turkish tea, or Nescafé)! All around 5 stars!

One of our most favourite memories of Cappadocia, couples pottery making workshop!

Huge huge thank you to our host Hasan and our pottery teacher Davut, who masterfully taught us how to shape the clay into a bowl and a vase.

They were also so kind that they offered us Turkish tea or Apple tea at various points of the experience and truly it was delicious.

First of all Davut demonstrated to us the most important of marriage rituals in Avanos: making a perfect sugar bowl (to show mastery of pottery making) and ensure that the man would be capable of having a profitable pottery business.

Then we were guided through a 20 min hands on pottery making session where we were able to make a bowl and a vase, amongst other items.

Our advice would be to allow 24h between this workshop and your flight to allow your artwork to dry and harden to make it easier to take back with you in the flight, as we did. They provided us with bubble wrap and cardboard boxes to help us wrap up our creations once they had dried in 24h.

And then we were able to admire their pottery collection and buy some of their items handcrafted by their pottery masters. We were so much more impressed with the intricate and delicate pottery after having made basic pottery and seeing how difficult those designs must be.

And on top of that, they were so kind to offer a significant discount as we had done the pottery making experience.

All in all this is one Workshop you definitely can't leave Cappadocia without doing and Hasan and Davut are 100% they best people to...

My recent pottery making experience exceeded all expectations, thanks to the warm hospitality of Hasan and his cousin, as well as the rewarding challenge of the activity itself.

From the moment I stepped into their studio, Hasan and his cousin greeted me with genuine warmth and enthusiasm.

As we delved into the art of pottery making, Hasan and his cousin proved to be not only skilled instructors but also patient mentors. They guided me through each step of the process with clarity and encouragement, ensuring that I felt supported every step of the way.

The activity itself was both enjoyable and challenging. While I anticipated a fun couple of hours of creativity, I quickly realized that pottery making requires a considerable amount of skill and precision. However, with Hasan and his cousin's expert guidance, I was able to embrace the learning curve and truly immerse myself in the craft.

Overall, my pottery making experience was an absolute delight. Hasan and his cousin's hospitality, combined with the rewarding nature of the activity itself, made for an unforgettable experience. I would highly recommend this experience to anyone looking for a unique activity. Thank you, Hasan and your patient cousin, for a truly memorable experience—I can't wait to return and create more pottery...

Me and my friends did a pottery workshop at Avanos Pottery Workshop and we enjoyed the experience very much! We had a lot of fun making our own pottery on the pottery wheel while at the same time learning about the history of pottery in Cappadocia and the important role it played. Hasan and Dawoud are very welcoming and very skilled in pottery. They helped us create some beautiful pieces, which we were able to take home (they survived the flight back to Europe even though they were unfired). It's very cool that the workshop is right next to the river, from which they get the beautiful red clay!

I would recommend this experience to anyone visiting Cappadocia, as it is a very fun activity and you also get to learn more about the history of the region and the role pottery played in the region. It is also very nice to get to see the Cappadocia beyond the balloons and the touristy shops in Göreme. I will definitely visit the workshop again if I am ever in Cappadocia again! I also bought some beautiful pottery pieces (all made by members of Hasan's family)...
