Nestled along the beautiful banks of the Kızılırmak River in Avanos, Cappadocia, Mado Avanos feels like a slice of the French Riviera transported to Turkey. The atmosphere is absolutely enchanting, with the gentle hum of the river paired with the soft glow of the surrounding park. It’s the kind of place where time slows down, and every moment feels like a postcard.
But what truly sets this restaurant apart isn’t just the stunning views or the charming ambiance—it’s the people. Specifically, it’s Batin. From the moment we stepped in, Batin greeted us with a warmth and attentiveness that felt genuine and heartfelt. He wasn’t just a "waiter" in the traditional sense—he was a host, a guide, and someone who genuinely wanted to ensure we had the best experience possible. His passion for what he does is contagious, and it made our meal all the more special.
Batin guided us to their pizzas, which were nothing short of perfection. The crust had that delicate balance of crispness and chewiness, and the toppings—oh, the toppings—were so fresh you could taste the love that went into each bite. It was one of those meals that makes you pause for a moment, just to savor every flavor.
And then came the Kunefe. Batin spoke about it with such pride, we couldn’t resist. When it arrived, golden and glistening, we understood why. The first bite was a revelation—the delicate crunch of the pastry, the creamy, slightly salty cheese, and the sweet, fragrant syrup came together in a symphony of flavors. It wasn’t just dessert; it was an experience, a moment to be savored and remembered. Honestly, I’ve had Kunefe before, but none like this—it was "wow" in every sense of the word.
To top it all off, the prices were surprisingly reasonable, especially for the quality of food, the stunning setting, and the stellar service. Mado Avanos is more than a restaurant—it’s a place that creates memories. If you visit, make sure you ask for Batin. He’s not just serving food; he’s creating experiences, and trust me, your experience will be unforgettable.
Mado Avanos isn’t just a place to eat—it’s a place to fall in love with Turkish hospitality, with food, and with life itself. Highly, highly...
Read moreIf you are looking for a place where the service is the worst you could ever imagine - you found it. We’ve been to Avanos for 5 days, always trying to check new places, but this one makes you wonder how they got such good rates overall. The food is ok,although avocado in the salad I got was just like made of rubber. But the most disappointing thing is service. The first waiter who served us was rude, when I asked him about the prices (which are not showing on the main menu, they go on the separate paper, don’t ask me why,I don’t know). I used a Google translator,as he didn’t speak English much, but he told me “calm down,ok?” Which was weird, but we decided to stay, cause we saw they had nice dessert menu. The waiter took around couple of minutes to find the prices on the list. After,we ordered water, but never got it,although it was in our check when we went to pay to the cashier desk. But the worst thing that the place was very empty,a few waiters around, and it felt like no one cared about customers. We asked the water for the second time, never got it again and just decided to leave. This place made you appreciate small cozy cafes around Avanos that you should...
Read moreWe were a group of 13 people, including kids, who had heard great things about this place. It came highly recommended by a local guide and had excellent Google reviews.
However, our experience was an utter disappointment. The staff were virtually invisible, and we had to remind them multiple times to take our orders. When the food finally arrived, it didn't match what we had ordered.
The service was poor. Some of us didn't have plates and cutlery, and when we requested the missing items, some staff members outright refused our requests. This was surprising, as you would generally expect the staff to be courteous.
While food quality can vary, it's baffling how a restaurant with such high ratings could have such incompetent and rude staff. We left without completing our lunch.
While most people seem to have had good experiences here, be mindful that you could be the exception on...
