A Truly Unique and Immersive Museum Experience

The Rahmi M. Koç Museum in Istanbul is undoubtedly one of the most impressive and diverse museums I’ve ever visited. Spanning across a large area along the Golden Horn, this museum offers an unforgettable journey through the history of transportation, industry, science, and technology.

What makes this museum truly special is its rich and interactive collection. From classic cars and vintage trains to airplanes, boats, and even full-sized ships you can walk into—there’s something fascinating in every corner. The maritime section is especially extensive, featuring scale models of Istanbul’s historic piers and harbors, as well as real vessels docked outside.

There’s also a second building across from the main museum that continues the exhibition with antique horse carriages, more train cars, and additional nautical displays. For children, there is a dedicated interactive zone that offers educational and fun activities on selected days.

The museum is incredibly well-organized and maintained, with multilingual information panels and friendly staff. Be prepared to walk a lot—comfortable shoes are a must!

Whether you’re a history buff, a science enthusiast, or simply a curious traveler, the Rahmi Koç Museum is a must-visit. I highly recommend setting aside at least half a day to explore it all. Truly a five-star experience!

Ticket price is 220 TL for students and 450 TL for regular tickets. There is also a special discount for groups of 10...

First of all, I wanted to say that everyone should definitely go to this museum. People coming from abroad, during your trip to Istanbul, you definitely have a travel list that includes historical squares with historical monuments, but Rahmi Koç Museum is usually overlooked.

One of the most important things that makes this museum a museum is that you will be able to find every piece of modern history you can think of in the form of a collection here.

You will be able to see the process of cars from past to present, you will be able to see all kinds of classic cars, you will be able to see classic motorcycles, you will be able to see sailboats, sea boats, you will be able to see models of ships, something you have never seen in the collection, old musical instruments and many more things.

I have only one piece of advice for you, and that is to devote one day to this museum, there is an inventory that you can browse from morning to evening. You will take lots of photos, read the articles and listen to the works. If you do not do this, you will not be able to enjoy this museum.

I wanted to put a few car photos I took here. I hope everyone who visits...

I recently visited the Rahmi M. Koç Museum in Istanbul, and I was truly impressed! This place is a paradise for lovers of technology, history, and art. The museum is located in a beautiful historic building on the shores of the Golden Horn, which adds a unique charm to the experience. The collection is incredibly diverse: vintage cars, airplanes, ships, locomotives, and numerous fascinating exhibits related to science and industry. I especially enjoyed the sections dedicated to classic cars and maritime history. Everything is presented with great attention to detail, and each exhibit is accompanied by insightful information. A special highlight is the interactive areas, which are perfect for both adults and children. You don’t just observe history here—you can actively engage with it. The on-site café was also a pleasant surprise, offering delicious food with a fantastic view. The Rahmi M. Koç Museum is a place you’ll want to visit again. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for an interesting and educational experience in Istanbul!

Went here in a whim and was absolutely blown away, this place is far cooler than any technology museum I’ve been to in Europe and US. The collection is not necessarily comprehensive, e.g. any sort of modern tech is almost no represented, but it doesn’t matter because the objects in the exposition are so special and fascinating, there’s whole hangars dedicated to just pre-1930s cars, just classic Italian motorboats, Bosporus row boats, etc etc. A whole passenger ferry houses the toys collection. There are sizeable antique airplanes you can walk into (or through, in the case of one WWII wreck lifted from the bottom of the sea). An amphibious car. Whole gigantic engines from steam ships. Working (like actually physically running) models of workshops. All in a beautiful historical docks setting. In short, this is the best day out for anyone interested in tech, design or history. My tip would be to get there early, I didn’t feel like I had nearly enough time to see even half of it properly in the 2 hours I had before it closed for the day
