Meşhur Dondurmacı Ali Usta — Attraction in Kadıköy

Our Streetfood Tour Guide recommended this place for icecream when we asked, icecream wasnt a part of the tour. When in Turkey, gotta try Hazelnut and thats what we did. Firt time around we got one scoop of hazelnut each with another scoop of caramel which was good too. The hazelnut icecream, however, was the amazing and that’s an understatement.

Just remember that there are two counters where you can be served, outside and inside. You don’t realise it if you visit when it’s crowded and wveryones queueing up outside. The first time we went was a week day and it didnt take long to be served, but the second time was a Saturday and the queue outside was all over the footpath and no one was going inside so I got lucky.

You’re asked if you want “sauce” or “nuts” with your ice cream, get the nuts. And they dont ask you if you want yours in a cup or a cone, you get the cup by default so specify in advance if it’s the waffle...

Seriously this was the only ice cream we had during our trip in turkey and we did not want to even try others.

They were seriously bloody good! They are situated at the end of Kadikoy in the moda area which we really love. We went during winter when there was practically no one eating ice cream but what the hell.

Our advise is, get a cone or a cup, our favourite was chocolate with chocolate and nut dip, walk down to moda, just sit by the benches facing the sea or take a stroll by the sea towards Kadikoy city area. You’ll love it trust me. We had it on our first day and last day during our 14 day trip in turkey and it was really remarkable. The ice cream, the whole Kadikoy and positive vibes of Istanbul just compliments everything together.

Would definitely come back again and I hope they stay around for...

So I saw on the internet this place is famous for their ice cream and was recommended by a friend. The man behind the counter was very rude when I tried asking questions such as what flavours sold quickly as I couldn’t taste any and I’m leaving for overseas.. kept saying the same thing over and over, they all sell out by end of day. Like... whatever. No need to be rude. Of al the places I’ve been to in kadikoy this was the only person who provided poor service and was rude... to be honest I was shocked.
