Prices seem to vary, but it's currently $36 (£27.50) per ticket directly on the website, meaning by the time you've booked transfers it will be closer to £40. Bear in mind while reading this review, this might be one of the most expensive aquariums the the world, that is not an exaggeration, I visited one in both Las Vegas and New York, both of which were cheaper than this, and both significantly better.
I paid £50 which included entry to the wax museum, which I didn't want but couldn't book without it from TUI. The Aquarium can't control the transfer price but this is just to demonstrate what you're likely to pay in total.
It's not even worth half of the base ticket price of £27.50. You'll be lucky to squeeze an hour out of it, just tanks full of the same fish for the most part. The sharks in the tunnel were the most interesting bit, but even then, you look at it for 30 seconds before it swims off to hide behind the aeroplane, there aren't that many of them and you may not see one at all, especially up close. I didn't stay around for the shark feeding because I arrived at 11am and it started at 12pm, and there wasn't enough to do to fill the time inbetween.
They have stingrays which were ok, but once you've seen one, the other 20 are not that interesting and staff didn't prevent the kids from molesting them in their foot deep pool.
Didn't see much other cool stuff, octopus? Jellyfish? Puffer fish? Turtles? It really felt like they just went to the local beach and caught a load of the most boring stuff to charge people a fortune to see. Sorry there are no pictures with this review by the way, I didn't bother taking any because there was nothing worth remembering, and it would have been pointless with the cloudy water anyway. I don't know what a happy fish looks like, but most of them looked depressed, still, just waiting to die. I've seen more lively fish on dinner plates.
The waxworks museum was predictably bizarre and out of date, it's mostly obvious who the figures are supposed to be (except for Harry Potter who looked more like a young Dawn French). Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump are the final figures on the short tour, as if they want you to leave with the worst possible impression.
I sat outside McDonald's for 2 out of the 3 hours feeding burger meat to the local cats which was more interesting than the aquarium. Oh and by the way, on the way in, you are forced to have your picture taken by a photographer in front of a green screen, which makes zero sense, why are you going to pay for a picture of yourself surrounded by fake fish when you're about to walk through a tunnel of real fish? And at the end, good luck trying to leave without being hassled to buy the picture they took off you at the start which you didn't want in the first place.
If entry was £10-15 I may have been able to give it 2 stars, but for the price you pay I wouldn't even rate it half a star. I strongly suspect that many of these 5 star reviews are written by staff, that would explain the absence of employees offering any kind of educational information.
In the gift shop, some of the cheaper soft toys were £50, much of the other stuff was significantly more, so don't plan on buying a toy to hug to make yourself feel better about the money you just wasted.
Oh and if you're disabled, then screw you, because there aren't any elevators and the central spiral ramp that spans like 4 floors will take you longer to get back up than you spent looking at the animals.
I'll end the review on a positive note, it's not far from the beach, so you can sit there while waiting for your transfer back...
Read moreWent there with my family and bought tickets for full visits (Aquarium & Snow World & WildPark & Face2Face & XD Cinema). This was around 80Euro/person in total. The low stars (3) were because of the overprice. Even if the sum of the stuff you can visit looks a lot, the snow and the cinema plus the wild park are rather small, nothing huge/large to see. (worth mentioning that we went to Valencia, Viena, Budapest and Lisbon before-zoos and aquariums-) The Aquarium tunnel is definitely the longest one we've seen and it is nice to visit, inside you can see various species of fish and you can spend around 1h if you thoroughly inspect all the aquariums. The nice touch is that you can feed the Koi fish and sting rays for some fee(I would say that one is decent and worth the money). Another nice touch is that you can see some real ships or a plane inside the tanks. The glass in most places is clean but there are also scratches on some other parts(due to poor manors of the tourists). The water in some tanks was a bit foggy, maybe because they recently cleaned the aquariums(?). The complex with the aquarium itself is nice and worth visiting but besides the ships and the long tunnel you can't find anything special that deserves the huge amount of money they ask per person.
The snow chamber is a nice touch, nothing big, just a room with some snow and some ice, some interesting constructions in ice but also a lot of constructions built from some synthetic material imitating ice/snow. You receive some clothes there so no worries, you won't freeze to death :P. It is quite refreshing to do a walk in there.
The wax statues site has quite a bunch of statues of a handful of celebrities and it is interesting to see if it is the first you are seeing, if not then you might walk through it quite quickly. Some of the statues look pretty real others not that much because the characters look a bit younger than in real life (and I am not comparing them to the old/current age of the personalities obviously). So you need around 15-30 mins here depending on how fast you want to go through the scene.
The 4d movie is around 15 mins if not less and presents the aquarium complex. I would say it would be nicer to visit it after you visited the rest so you can make an overview of the visit at the end but that is just my thought :).
The wild park section is actually a bigger room with aquariums with lizards, snakes and some spiders. It is nice to see but again it doesn't justify the huge price.
They have restrooms at the entrance before you get into the scenes and also in the Aquarium. There are also shops for gifts and places where you can buy drinks and ice cream(at least the ice cream has a fair price). Very near there are parking lots, we went there by mini bus and that parking lot looked rather full, not sure if it was the only place or it is bigger.
Bottom line, if you really want to see as much aquariums as you can in the world, then go ahead and pay the money, if not and if this is not the only one you visited and you look for fish diversity then this is too expensive for what it offers.
It is a great place to visit but for a much lower fee. We will definitely not going back anytime soon if the prices are...
