In the last three visits to Al Bahar. I have been very disappointed.
I was "harassed" by a security personnel whilst i was pushing my 9 month old in his stroller and walking with my 2 year old as she was riding her little trike along the board walk.
She told me that the baby needs to ride her bike in the designated area next to the road. When I tried to explain to her that she is just a baby and that her trike was not putting anyone in danger, she proceeded to shout at me saying she will call more security and that she us enforcing the rules. That is the rule of Al Bahar. In a country where tolerance is the theme for the year I feel that tolerance was not shown toward a young mother who might I add was alone at the time with her two young children.
On two of the 3 occasions I was unable to use the valet parking as there were events taking place. Now, as much as I understand that there may have been a need to use that space for alternative reasons other than valet parking the shere lack of communication or appropriate signage informing the public of this change would have been appreciated, as there was a row of cars that followed behind me wanting to avail the same service.
There is a lack of atmosphere, what was a vibrant location is now a very drab, sad place to be. There were only 3 food stalls open on the last two occasions. The beach was even closed. And this was not due to the weather or anything valid. There is just red danger tape everywhere even around the children's playground.
The management of Al Bahar have clearly lost sight if what they have set out to do and it has gone from being a beautiful vision to just a glorified...

Read moreVery disappointing. I visited Abu Dhabi last week as a tourist and wanted to check out this new beach in town. But the beach was closed. It was possible to walk in the sand but there were no sunloungers and parasols available and there was red danger tape all along the waterfront. All of the food stalls were closed. A security officer told us to head on to the near "Corniche Family Beach", which is not free of charge. Very strange: Security forbid me to take pics with my small camera (it was NOT a professional one and there were really no people around that could feel disturbed!!!), but it is allowed to use your mobile for taking pics. Where...
