Nice relaxing place. We had a little walk around the football pitches which was OK all but for an inconsiderate dog owner letting his dog run off the lead and chasing after someone else's dog with little or no control over it.
There are some nice newish benches to sit for a while but some clown has had what looks like a small barbaque on one of the seats and as the new ones are plastic it has melted, leaving a seat which can be used but looks awful.
Carring on our walk we went around the trail and it was quite nice in the early autumn sunshine but arriving close to the car park near the cricket pavilion we notice several pieces of dog poo which have been left at the side of the walkway, ok in the light but in darker weather and evening it is...
Read moreA rare chance for a riverside walk around the circumference of the large playing fields really well kept up. Intermittent glimpses of a kingfisher through the trees next to the river. Significant growth on brambles, etc, this time of year (June) means plenty of the river is out of view, making it a great haven for nature. The nature reserve is definitely a bonus as we were not previously aware of it being there. Read moreThis is probably one of the nicest parks in south derbyshire, it has an enormous playing field with football and basketball. But its also great for a casual walker doing a lap or two around the park and meadows. There are some excellent benches to eat on or just gaze at the river. And whenever I have gone, I have never found it to have that many people around. The foot entrance is a little strange but look out for the public path sign you'll walk under a train line.
