Would not recommend if you want to know what you are getting or the real cost. Despite living in the village we have never visited the town street tap and thought we would try it for a change. On walking in the prices on the boards displayed stated that a prosseco was £5.75 and large wine £6.75 for a Merlot and £7.80 for the most expensive wine (Malbec). We sat down and were served quickly ordering a glass of Prosecco and a house red (large). On finishing our drinks we asked for the bill - which was a gob smacking £15.35! We queried this and we’re told “the prices on the board are wrong, the tills are the right prices, sorry” we then asked for confirmation of each of the wines we’d had and were told that the prosseco was £6.95 and the house wine £8.40!!! Aghast and frankly disappointed that what was supposed to be a relaxing child free drink has turned into such a negative experience I questioned what wine had been used as the house wine - now, you can guess where this is going; the Malbec; the most expensive one! This practice is unusual to say the least and when queried the only response was “oh I just picked that because it’s the nicest one so thought you’d like it”. Buyer beware of misleading information on outdated pricing. The atmosphere was lacking but we put that down to Sunday late afternoon. Very...
Read moreLast Friday was the night before my friends wedding; some good friends had come over from the Netherlands for the wedding and wanted to experience some real British pubs. After a few different places we ended our night in the Town Street Tap - honestly couldn't have made a luckier or better find. The young man behind the bar (who was christened Beer Jesus in honor of his knowledge) was fantastic, incredibly enthusiastic and knowledgeable - and couldn't have given them a better intro to proper beer and a better impromptu stag night! Thank you for your knowledge, patience and making it an exceptional and memorable night! Highly recommended and will...
Read moreDrink selection and staff were great. What let this place down was reading it was table service and arriving on a Weds eve to find all tables taken. Unclear what to do now so spent some time stood in middle of room until served. Lots of customers saving seats with their bags and making no attempts to budge up or make us welcome. Also several customers were eating chips, fish, curry from across the road. Smelt nice but was over powering. A man on crutches came in after us and was also ignored re seating but he left again immediately. Nice place, less nice...
