As we were visiting Legoland and in the area, my wife heard from a friend that Bekonscot Model Village is the place to visit – and she was not wrong! It cost £38.50 for two adults and our son. Parking is free in the church carpark opposite and there are plenty of spaces with friendly members of staff picking litter to show you the way. We booked in advance so we just showed our booking number and then were free to explore the model village. There are arrows on the floors but after the fourth or fifth time around, our son was just going in his own direction, following the beautiful model trains along their track. Despite being the school holidays (possibly not locally), it was not packed and we never felt we were rubbing shoulders with other visitors, despite some paths being quite narrow. If you are in need of a break from the models, children can explore the new-looking play equipment for free or pay £1.50 for a turn on the remote-controlled boats. Bekonscot is cashless, so these require contactless payment. There was also a magician! Our son was keen to ride the train, so this was £1.70 per passenger, regardless of age. It was a lovely little track that looped around the boating pond a few times before heading back to the station. It was also interesting to see experts making models in the workshop. This is where I could have stood for a good period of time. Luckily we had good weather, but there is an under cover eating area and railway artefacts to explore. For adults or older children, the timeline is a fascinating journey through the history of Bekonscot, especially when you see photos of the late Queen visiting as a child. Children can complete a quiz as they go around the model village. These are aimed at under-6 or over-6 years-old and sell for just 50p! What was a real highlight for me was there is also an adult’s quiz for 50p! It contains 22 questions that focus your attention on the finer details as well as general knowledge. Answers are displayed in the souvenir shop and I was getting extremely competitive to get everyone correct (which I didn’t). For those that like a crossword, one is included on the back. On balance, my wife and I and our son all preferred Bekonscot to Legoland. He is already asking to go again! If you are in the area (or not) you should visit! Bekonscot is more than a...

With every step I took, I felt as though I was walking through a dream, and even as I left, I carried a piece of that enchantment with me, eager to revisit the miniature world that had captured my imagination.
As I walked through the gates of Bekonscot Model Village & Railway, I felt a sense of anticipation and excitement bubbling within me. The allure of stepping into a miniature world was irresistible, and little did I know that this visit would weave memories that would stay with me for a long time. The highlight, undoubtedly, was the intricate railway network that meandered through the village. As I stood by the tracks, I watched in amazement as the miniature trains chugged along, traversing bridges, tunnels, and scenic landscapes. It was as if I had shrunk down to their size, embarking on a journey through a world of enchantment.
The level of craftsmanship evident in every element was a testament to the dedication and passion of the creators. I found myself lost in the charm of it all, clicking pictures and discovering hidden gems around every bend. The meticulous detailing extended even to the smallest signs, shop fronts, and vehicles, which added authenticity to the experience. Highly recommended….!!!

Read moreFrom the moment we stepped into the village, we were transported into a miniature world that was both charming and meticulously detailed. My kids were absolutely fascinated by the tiny houses, bustling streets, and the intricate model railway that wound its way through the village. The attention to detail was incredible, with moving parts, lights, and even tiny people going about their daily lives.
One of the highlights for my kids was the funfair section, complete with a miniature Ferris wheel and carousel. They also loved watching the model trains chugging along the tracks, and we spent a good amount of time following the trains and spotting all the little scenes set up around the village.
My wife and I appreciated the historical aspect of Bekonscot, which showcases life in England during the 1930s. It was like stepping back in time, and we enjoyed pointing out the differences and similarities to our kids. The village is beautifully maintained, and there are plenty of benches and picnic areas where we could sit and enjoy the surroundings.
The staff were friendly and helpful, making our visit even more pleasant. We also enjoyed a lovely lunch at the on-site café, which had a good selection of food that catered to both adults and children.
Overall, Bekonscot Model Village exceeded our expectations. It was a delightful experience that offered something for everyone in the family. We left with big smiles and a lot of wonderful memories. Highly recommended for families looking for a fun and educational day out!
