Totally worth it. Make time to visit it as this grand piece of history is more concrete in providing a feel of a ship of the Titanic era than the main building.

Our kid had fun following the trail of rooms and searching for characters. We are a traveling family originating from Colorado, so we had been to Molly Brown’s house in Denver. She was featured here amongst other passengers, and the staff member (Gayle, who took us under her wing for the visit!) knew a lot about her also. Make sure you ring the bell and press the button to interact with the holograms on board.

The ship itself has a fascinating and diverse history, and is the only remaining White Star Line boat that exists.

We spent about 1.5 hours here, which includes looking around inside the ship and outside at the surrounding plaques and art around the dry dock. The ticket is included with the Titanic Belfast ticket so make sure you use it! To do so, you will need a FULL day at the site to see everything.

Don’t miss the tall vertical sculpture about a 2 minute walk away towards the marina. It’s a very clever piece of art once you...

The SS Nomadic, is the tender ship from the Titanic that would carry passengers and mail to the great ship before it sailed on its maiden voyage. It is the closest thing that you can set foot on from that time period that is closely related to the tragic tale of the SS Titanic.

It was built at the same time as the Titanic, so it has the same finishes and design as the great ship. It was also designed by Thomas Andrews as well and built in 1911. It is a quarter of the size of its big sister and tendered the first and second class passengers to the big ship.

The SS Nomadic has its own interesting history, serving in both world wars, and tendering passengers for fifty years. It was also a restaurant for thirty years beside the Eiffel Tower in Paris. This great ship is the very last White Star Line left in existence. You can imagine yourself walking in the Titanic exploring this ship. For anyone who is interested in the Titanic’s history (my wife is a huge fan), this is a bucket list experience.

Step back in time and stroll its decks, explore the living quarters and sit on its benches and...

Nomadic is the last surviving White Star Line ship and we are so lucky for her to be back in Belfast and restored to her full glory. She was very very close to being scrapped! She served as a tender alongside Traffic to the large ships such as Titanic (and many more) and has a long and impressive history of her own. As was custom at the time in the early 1900s, the class divide is never more clear than on Nomadic. Exuberant splendour for first class on their journey to their ship down to metal, cold and industrial style spaces for third class. Visiting Nomadic, a stones throw from Titanic Belfast, is a must and really adds to the experience of stepping back in time to when the giant ocean liners were being built and serving in the Atlantic and around the world. See my review of Titanic Belfast for more details.

Why would you not like this little ship? The 1st and 2nd class tender to the Titanic (once) working out of Cherbourg. To touch something built at virtually the same time as Titanic out of iron and steel from the same steel and iron supplier, amazing. Then to sit were JJ Astor might have sat, god it doesn't bear thinking about. I'm disabled and I could get virtually everywhere on board because they have a lift. There were steps up to the top most deck but with time I climbed them too. Nice attention to details with its renovation and the displays and information were superb. To finish my review I would like add that the staff onboard were friendly and very helpful. 10 out of 10 from me, extremely well done.
