A real hidden gem of a working animal conservation farm, I took my 12 year old son my Girlfriend and her 12 year old daughter on a typical British weather day (scattered rain showers and a bit of sunshine) and from the beginning we were met with a very warm welcome and given all the information for the farms activities that day, we paid an extra £3 only for 3 big bags off feed for specific animals through out the park. Please bear in mind that this is a working conservation farm with the smells of a farm and isn't a corporate team park, we were met with the friendliest bounciest lamas as out first interaction which were hilarious ,we continued to the rabbit hold and pet event and the staff went above and beyond to educate and also to ensure both the children and the animals were well taken care of, after the kids fell in love with the rabbits and were torn away we went for a walk around the wallabies enclosed and we're eagerly greater by a number of Roos who loved to be integrated with some carrying babies in the pouches and a fascinating albino roo and to be so close and personal with these animals was something you rarely get anywhere else. After the roos the kids headed straight for the free to play on Trampolines which made them even happier ,we found the meerkats hilarious . It was time to head to the Black fox talk and feeding time which turned out to be my personal favourite, the fox's were stunning and the game keeper talked in great detail and had such a true passion for those animals and interacted with us and answered every question we threw their way . After hiding from a downpour for 5 mins we headed to the biggest pigs I've ever seen and were able to feed them. A short walk from the pigs were the Shetland ponies who were all very friendly and well taken care of, the next paddock was again fantastic two families of Lama / Alpacas with babies mummies and a big daddy who entertained us for easily for 30 mins. The kids were getting hungry and we had packed our own picknick which asking at the main entrance they were more then happy for us to bring it in and even sit on the inside benches right next to their own cafe and the massive indoor play area which is very rare to be allowed to do . After refueling the kids they spent 45 mins on the play park as the rain came down harder this time . At 2 o'clock the magic really happens for all of us when the reptile hold show and play began , 3 tables full of children and adults alike were welcomed to pet stroke and hold , a bearded dragon, blue tounged skink , tortoise and the most eagerly awaited corn snake , again the keepers were very good with the kids and adults were very knowledgeable and happy to help and discuss the animals their are clearly passionate about and we were even visited by the farm cat. 2.30 pm was the rabbits again and with yet another great interaction period we were hounded by can we buy one please please please . The rain came down again and we returned to the very well stocked with tables indoor picnic tables and play park and while the kids burnt the last of their energy off use elders topped up on some of the nicest coffee I've bough in years . Our intentions once the rain eased was to play crazy golf at an amazing price of £5 for the whole family and that was returned when the clubs came back to the reception . The toilet facilities were well kept, their were washing areas all around the park to wash after animal interactions and their were more then enough bins all set up for recycling and maintaining a very clean farm . On exiting the farm theirs a lovely shop with a checky and chatty parrot on quard and lots of things to chose from and fantastic prices . All in all it was a fantastic day out we arrived at 11 am and didn't leave untill 5 and we were all exhausted in the best way possible . Their was an amazing car park and fantastic and close disabled parking spaces . If you have a chance to go I highly highly recommend it for a great family day out . Thank you so much for an...
Read moreI feel like we were sold a lie. Having looked at the website and all the phenomenal activities and hands-on experiences Animal Farm had mentioned they had to offer, they sadly didn’t meet expectations. We arrived at 11am (the farm opens at 10am) and there were only 7 cars in the car park, during half term. This was a concern already. We entered the main building which was the also the gift shop. It was cold, dark, dingy and not very welcoming. It cost us £76 for 2 adults, 3 children and some animal feed. As we walked through the entrance to the farm, the first thing I noticed was how overgrown and unkempt everything was. As we started to explore where the animals were kept, we noticed that some enclosures were broken and had been “fixed” using cable ties. There were so many empty enclosures too, so the children were very disappointed by this. There was even an egg incubator switched off with eggs beside them with no lock to keep them safe. We popped into the barn where you can join the “cuddle club” but again, this was cold, uninviting and with nowhere to sit. We tried to wash our hands afterwards, however, none of the 4 dryers available were working. We had to wipe our hands dry on ourselves as it was far too cold to let them air dry. As we went a little further, we did notice the trampolines and castle climbing frame. The children did enjoy this, however, there was nowhere for us adults to sit so we stood around for around 45 minutes whilst the children played. Also, next to it, there was a zip line that had been tied up and out of the way (I’m assuming it was broken?) with no signage or barrier around it to keep children off of it. The children enjoyed feeding the goats, sheep and alpacas, however, again, no signage or decent hand washing facilities. The children like to find out about the animals they’re encountering, however, no signage about the animals or even whether the animal feed was suitable for them (the lady at the front entrance told us which animals we could/couldn’t feed, but this wasn’t added to signage around the farm to serve as a reminder). We had finished looking around the rest of the farm after around an hour so we suggested that we could go to the soft play area for lunch. When we entered, the first thing we noticed was ALL the arcade and play ride ons were empty, broken or had “out of order” written on them. Luckily, we brought our own food as there wasn’t much to offer from their menu other than chips, nuggets and burgers. The lady who made us a (£3!!!) cup of tea was covered in fur so unsure how happy I would have been letting her cook us food to eat. The food stands at the front didn’t even show a selection of foods like sandwiches or drinks, instead it was just storage for their burger buns in cardboard boxes. The children did enjoy the soft play area, however, many adults were using the soft play area themselves and this wasn’t being monitored by staff. We only spent 2 and a bit hours at the farm altogether before we left. As we were leaving through the gift shop, the lady asked us to leave a 5* review on TripAdvisor as lots of people had been “moaning”. However, I feel like they perhaps need to consider some of the points that people are “moaning” about as unfortunately we weren’t completely satisfied by our visit and do not intend to revisit. Looking back at much older reviews, it seems that only in the last few years the standard has dropped and maybe they need to look at why that is before they assume that we’re wrong for giving...
Read moreI had taken my 2 daughters some years ago, we visited twice probably around 2017/8 and as I am currently staying on Haven Burnham with my eldest daughter and 3 grandchildren we decided to go & have another lovely day there.
Roll forward to 2024. We arrived at 10.30am, only 5 cars in the car park which I thought was strange. Cost £29.50 for 2 adults (3 kids are all under 2) with 1 bag of animal feed.
On entry, no more adventure golf, no tractors/trikes to ride on so we made our way to the play barn...every single arcade machine and ride on toys switched off/out of order. Barn was empty, just 1 lady behind the serving counter. No kids playing, no families eating. Previously this was packed out. The slides are great for older kids but obviously ours are much younger so only used the baby slide and the ball pit. Ride on rockers & jumperoo were broken. My daughter bought a small bottle of water and a cup of kids pop and it was £2.60.
Outside was even worse. No water boats, no panning for gold, no zip wires, no tyre swing, no roller coaster, no childrens wheel. All the rides were gone and the areas just over grown with weeds. There were some trampolines to use again for older kids. Ice cream stalls shut. No food vendors.
There used to be ride on tractors which you could sit in with the kids and ride around a paved area to view the animals. Again these were gone and now there is a path you can walk on and see a few animals instead.
Venture further out the back field and where this used to be packed with so many different animals now there are just a few, sometimes mixed together. Animals unkempt, and need love.
Inside the reptile houses, where you used to have all the talking displays and animal demos the area has now been halved. We didn't see any talks or holding. There were no pigs or horses or other bigger animals that used to be there. The area and cages just looked dirty.
Overall we spent about 2hrs there instead of around 5/6 that we used to. So gutted that it has gone so downhill and been left to ruin as we have such fomd memories of the place. I think it would be better if they just rehomed the remaining animals and shut down permanently. If we had paid for the 3 kids if they had been a few months older it would have been over £55 so it's a large amount of money for such a poor attraction. I love animals so it makes me sad.
I did take videos but it wont let me...
