SunSpot Cafe — Restaurant in Brean

Went here with my mum and auntie for a sunday carvery. My mum ordered her meal plain, it arrived covered in herbs. She took it back up the bar and explained that she could not eat it and she had asked whether it was plain before ordering and was asked by the bar staff if she wanted a different meal or her money back, so she asked if it was ok to have chicken nuggets and chips which was half the price of the original meal she'd paid for, which was all perfectly reasonable until the staff member arrived back at the table and said she'd have to pay again for the changed meal. Then the manageress came to the table and proceeded to be rude, condescending and aggressive to my mum, kept telling her that herbs are in everything and she wasn't paying for her turkey, everytime my mum tried to speak, this pathetic excuse for life kept trying to shut her down with the phrase "you're not listening". Actually the only one who wasn't listening to anybody was her, suffice to say all three of us got up to walk out after a few choice words were said in anger and frustration. We made it near to the entrance when one of the security guards then said "there was no need for that" to my mum, only to then have a conversation with my mum and admit he'd have been annoyed by the situation too. Then the manageress came back basically complaining about who's going to pay for a plate of turkey if everyone wanted to change their meal and how unfair it was for someone to leave a bad review, also suggesting that she doesn't have to state on her menu what's in her meals. This went on for a while and it was downright aggressive and pathetic and I eventually pulled my mum around out of her establishment, not before uttering a few choice words of my own. Do not give this woman your money, £40 down and got a load of abuse and no service, will absolutely never go back here and would urge no one to give this the satisfaction of visiting her...

Absolutely atrocious customer service. I ordered roast turkey and potatoes with nothing else, nothing on the menu to say the potatoes were seasoned or I would not have ordered them. When the dinner came out although it looked lovely I was unable to it, took it back and explained I couldn't eat it and wouldn't have ordered if it had stated the food was seasoned. I was offered my money back or another meal so I ordered another cheaper meal only to then be told I would have to pay for it, the manageress was brought out she was rude and had no customer service skills at all. She told me I wasn't listening and she was trying to help and she kept saying there are herbs on everything. She also kept saying why should she pay for my meal as there was nothing wrong with it, then verbally attacked me when I said I was leaving a bad review well isn't that my right if I'm unhappy...

Used Sunspot for about 12 months, always had great nights in there, however tonight has completely changed my opinion and left a very sour taste in my mouth! The bar staff need to learn how to deal with customers with disabilities, I genuinely could not believe how rude one lady behind the bar was when questioning the age of my 19 year old autistic Son, who has been previously served in there for drinks. I fully agree that age checks are necessary, but when asking for ID, she done everything possible to embarrass my family. Owner is aware of the problem and will hopefully sort out his staff so others won't have to suffer the sheer disappointment...
