Lots of great shops although Pound Stretcher and of course Wilko are both sorely missed. The Clarks Outlet and M&S Outlet stores are definitely worth visiting for and the likes of Heron, The Works and Sports Direct all assure you of bargains. If only they had a toy shop like Entertainer or Smyths it would complete the offering.
The car parking is time limited but at least it's free. Unfortunately it is poorly laid out and gets heavily congested at peak leading to many delays. Beware as many cars ignore the one way system and do not follow the painted arrows in the road.
The exit should be better signed and especially the lane designation as the right lane is right only for taking you south back towards the city centre. Left is for left (north on Walsall Road to Scott Arms) AND straight on (north towards Aldridge Road past the greyhound track). This should be made clearer on approach especially for those unfamiliar with the area.
They appear to have improved the traffic lights on exit giving more time for the cars turning right. So it all seems to flow better than it did a few months ago as cars going left or straight on aren't as easily held up behind those waiting to turn right.
They should block off the first few turns as you first enter the car park after the little roundabout as this creates a lot of congestion and danger as cars often pull out and block everyone's passage. There's a lot of near misses.
It's probably beyond their control (yet maybe not their influence) that the approach from the city centre has pedestrian lights 100 yards from the main traffic lights outside the entrance to the shopping park. The issue is that despite this whole area being totally redeveloped only 2 years ago there is no connection between these 2 sets of lights. Stand there for 20 minutes and you'll see hundreds of cars waiting at the red pedestrian lights while the main traffic lights are/go green. When this happens no cars can flow so the main lights are completely wasted during this time and this leads to massive congestion especially at peak times. There's no excuse not to synchronise these 2 sets of lights. If the main lights are red then make the pedestrian lights red so pedestrians can cross without holding the traffic up unnecessarily. It's not rocket science!
If you go to the Asda do remember to get your trolley from the car park as there aren't any near the store itself.
You get the feeling it is 3 separate areas: the outside (with the car park), the inside (where the toilets and the Asda are) and the small outside area with the bus stops and access towards the train station. There is a Weatherspoon and some betting shops I've never used and I'm sure many people are unaware even exist.
Finally the toilets have finally improved so are now at least passable based on recent usage. However they could really do with specific individual disabled toilets. There is a locked baby changing room that you have to press a buzzer for which I have never used.
A mixed bag they need to improve on but well...
