The Chaiwala brand is excellent and other branches are great. The one in Perry Barr seems terrible. In the past had an order made wrong by a guy who didn't understand English. He gave me and charged me for items I didn't order and then said as its already made he couldn't give me my money back for what I didn't order and didn't eat. In the end a female member of staff sorted it out. She was great. Today with my wife ordered a cake of some sort and two teas dining in. The male staff member, different to the one I refer to above, gave me a receipt and said he would call me when ready. 20 mins later, still no order so went to the counter. Female staff member sorted it. The guy said he didn't know I was standing there. What did that have anything to do with items I ordered 20 mins earlier that could have been ready in 30 seconds? While at the counter, I watched him call out another customer to tell them their order was ready. They didn't hear him. He didn't call them at a volume at much more than a whisper. Awful service. The female staff member, like the one I refer to above, had to come to the rescue. I will come back to this branch if desperation causes me to. Other branches eg in Handsworth, Small Heath, Coventry Road, Alum Rock always superb. The Alum Rock the best to be fair.The Perry Barr one sadly is not. I am sorry to say this. I was there between 2.30pm ish and 3.20pm. The order number on my receipt was 151 if it helps. I left the receipt on the table when I left.

I've been here a few times, either I'm very unlucky or this Chaiwala is complete rubbish. The food is bland and dry, and don't even get me started on the "karak chai/ coffee" I could have made a better coffee or chai at home with a kettle, I even complained about it once and the girl tried to convince me there was nothing wrong with the coffee!!! I felt like being sick after having the coffee, I think the milk was off. I will never be visiting this Chaiiwala ever again, which is a shame because I like the karak coffee from other Chaiiwalas. It wasn't a one off for me, but everytime I bought something from there. The portions? Considering the prices, is horrendous, my kids feel hungry after their miniscule portions, let alone the grown ups.

The staff should be trained better, I'm a customer telling you of my experience, how can you tell me I must not have experienced it? The only reason I didn't take the karak coffee back the same day, was because I was 3-4 miles away and couldn't be bothered to drive back for a couple of quid. The only thing this chaiwalla is interested in is making money. Money making frauds, which is a shame because they're in a very good location, and can make a name for themselves here. We have been going this place since it first opened. Unfortunately, our recent visits have highlighted a noticeable decline in customer service quality.

In particular, staff members appear to be less attentive and less professional compared to previous experiences. During our recent visits, I observed several instances where employees were chewing gum while taking orders, which made their communication unclear and gave an impression of carelessness. Additionally, there seemed to be a lack of engagement with customers, as some staff appeared disinterested in ensuring guests' needs were met. Basic standards, such as listening attentively and maintaining clean tables, were not consistently upheld.

We understand that prices have increased, and we don’t mind paying more. However, it is disappointing to see that this increase has coincided with a decline in the quality of service. In the past, the service here was characterized by friendly and approachable staff who made an effort to create a welcoming atmosphere. Sadly, that level of attentiveness and care seems to have diminished. I hope that management addresses these concerns, as this establishment has always been a favorite, and it would be wonderful to see it regain its previous standard of excellent...

I recently bought a "kunafa cheesecake" here, but was surprised when it tasted strongly of rose water—a flavor I dislike and that wasn’t advertised. When I politely requested either a refund or exchange, the employee refused, saying it would be a "waste." I even offered to pay extra to cover any difference for an exchange, but still, they wouldn’t budge. When I asked to speak to the manager, he seemed agitated from the start. He insisted there was no rose water in the cheesecake and even called the supplier to confirm, which I never requested. The supplier claimed no rose water was added, but it was clear from the rose petals on the cheesecake that the flavor was indeed there (as shown in the picture I took). In the end, after quite a lot of back-and-forth, the manager finally agreed to exchange it. However, after all the fuss, it simply wasn’t worth it anymore. I feel like my concerns were dismissed, and the whole situation could have been resolved much more easily with a simple exchange. Advertising should be accurate, and listening to customers' feedback could have saved us both time.

I just paid , then realised at home she overcharged me by £4.50 ??? I tried to raise the issue by phoning Chaiwala OneStop Perry Barr Bham to no avail. Nobody was picking it up at the restaurant. Customers are always right & staff at Chaiwala should take heed . I haven't the time to take back the food & demand my £4.50 back as it is important to treat customers fairly and honestly . It's more like Chaiwala puts profit B4 people. I may later date ask for a refund or recompensation as I am due staff error . If Chaiwala comprehends??? We were served by Billy he was slightly patronising saying “haven’t you been to Chaiwala before” since we were asking questions about the food, was going to order more but I felt uncomfortable. Food wasn’t great either, masala chips tasted like it was smothered in ketchup, butter chicken wrap tasted dry, paratha had no taste, dry and hard, asked for red onions in the omelette ended giving normal onions instead. Overall experience was 4 out of 10. Won’t be coming here again unfortunately, mainly because of customer service. As a person that works in customer service area it is very important how you portray yourself at the till, server it is your job to welcome the customers and help them out if they have questions. I came here previously before this occurrence and staff again where standing in one corner talking away and not a single smile. Staff need to be trained!
