Surprised...

Pros: Diverse Selection: Bolton Market boasts an impressive variety of products, ranging from fresh produce to clothing and electronics. Whether you're looking for everyday essentials or specialty items, you're likely to find them here. The market truly caters to a wide range of needs and preferences.

Competitive Prices: One of the standout features of Bolton Market is its affordability. The prices are generally competitive, making it an attractive option for budget-conscious shoppers. Bargain hunters will appreciate the opportunity to find great deals on various items, especially when compared to other local retailers.

Cultural Immersion: The market is a melting pot of different cultures, offering a unique shopping experience. It provides an opportunity to immerse yourself in diverse cuisines, traditions, and languages. Exploring the stalls and interacting with the friendly vendors can be an enriching experience that broadens your horizons.

Fresh Produce: Bolton Market is particularly known for its fresh and high-quality produce. From vibrant fruits and vegetables to aromatic herbs and spices, the market offers a bountiful selection. Shoppers seeking farm-to-table ingredients will be pleased with the availability and freshness of the produce.

Cons: Congestion and Crowds: The popularity of Bolton Market often translates into large crowds, especially during peak hours. Navigating through the bustling stalls can be challenging, and finding a parking spot adjacent to the area can be equally frustrating. It's advisable to visit during weekdays or early mornings to avoid the worst of the congestion.

Limited Parking: Bolton Market suffers from a shortage of parking spaces in its immediate vicinity. However, finding parking nearby although this can be time-consuming, is readily available. I often comment on the number of available parking lots across the town, which never seem to ever be filled.

Sanitation Concerns: While the majority of the market maintains acceptable hygiene standards, some areas may fall short. There have been occasional instances of untidy stalls or unclean facilities. However, it's worth noting that the market management has been taking steps to address these issues and improve cleanliness.

Lack of Organized Layout: The market's layout can be somewhat confusing, with stalls arranged haphazardly. Navigating through the different sections can be a challenge, especially for first-time visitors. Improved signage and a more organized layout would greatly enhance the shopping experience and make it easier to locate specific items or vendors.

Bolton Market provides a vibrant shopping experience with its diverse selection, competitive prices, and cultural immersion. While the market does have its fair share of challenges, such as congestion, limited parking, sanitation concerns, and a somewhat disorganized layout, it remains a popular destination for locals and visitors alike. With some improvements in infrastructure and organization, Bolton Market has the potential to become an even more enjoyable and convenient shopping...

Not had a great experience here. Let me set the scene, me- 15 years old- my uncle decide to have a look in the market, now don't get me wrong the market itself is good, prices are cheap, I believe the quality is good only things I'd change is the staff and the horrendous smell of fish 😂 but I understand that one. Anyway, we're heading out a side exit and my uncle passes out, 15 year old me lucky is a swim teacher and knows first aid however for a young person this is very very frightening. I take all the precautions and am literally screaming for someone's help, not only does no member of the public come over when they see someone lying on the floor and hear me screaming (literally look at me stop for a second and walk away and another person exclaimed they had no phone to call for help and walked away). Again going off topic, but not a single member of staff comes over. At this point my uncle has come round and is loopy considering he's just passed out, and makes his way up these stairs "to get onto flat ground" and I run to get help from someone in the market, warry of leaving him alone. I find a lovely lady who is at a stall which I give all props to (life saver), she called over another lady and told her my situation. The lady she calls over proceeds to follow me to my uncle and stands at the bottom of the stairs and doesn't speak. She then radios two other men (which I assume we're meant to be the first aiders) and they arrive. They then tell me and my uncle that the top of the staircase we were on was off limits and "we weren't allowed to be up there, it's for staff only" They say "are you okay" to my uncle and leave. No assessment, nothing, they didn't even assist him down the stairwell. Later on the lady I originally went to came (left her stall) and brought him some water. After that I checked him out and made sure that he was fit to walk and he wasn't bleeding or whacked his head (which he did) and we never saw from the so-called first aiders again.

Now for me this is appalling. Fortunately for me I know first aid unlike many people nevermind children, however if I didn't this could've been much worse. Had I not have known how to handle this situation things may have spiralled. If he had cracked his head open then what would've happened. Luckily non of this did happen, but to know that someone could be in a predicament like that and have no experience and no one's help scares me. They need to sort themselves out. Thank you to the young lady who owned the carpet shop deeply appreciated.

Once again this is not a reflection on the actual market or most of the stall holders mainly just the...

Bolton Market is an absolute must-visit and a shining example of what a vibrant, community-focused market should be. From the moment you step inside, you're greeted by a bustling atmosphere and an incredible array of fresh produce, unique goods, and tantalizing food options. What truly sets Bolton Market apart is its exceptional variety and quality. The Food Hall is a particular highlight, offering a culinary journey around the world with stalls serving everything from delicious gourmet burgers and Japanese cuisine to authentic curries and freshly cooked kebabs. It's a foodie's paradise, where you can find both traditional market fare and exciting new flavours, often at surprisingly reasonable prices. The quality of the ingredients is consistently high, with many traders sourcing fresh, local produce. Beyond the incredible food, the market boasts a fantastic Fruit and Veg Hall, brimming with a vibrant selection of exotic and everyday produce. The Fish and Meat Hall is equally impressive, offering a wide variety of fresh fish, quality meats, poultry, and even seasonal game. You can tell the traders are passionate about their products, and their knowledge and helpfulness are a real asset. The Lifestyle Hall and Outdoor Market add another layer of charm, with a diverse mix of stalls selling everything from fashion and jewellery to quirky gifts, cosmetics, and fabrics. It's the perfect place to browse for unique finds and support independent businesses. The recent redevelopments have only enhanced the market experience, with a spacious layout, comfortable seating areas, and modern facilities like free Wi-Fi and cash machines. It’s clear that a lot of thought has gone into making it a welcoming and enjoyable space for all visitors. But it's not just about the goods; it's about the people. The traders at Bolton Market are friendly, knowledgeable, and always willing to offer advice or a warm smile. This genuine community spirit makes shopping here a truly pleasant and personal experience, a refreshing change from the often-impersonal feel of larger retail chains. Whether you're stocking up on fresh groceries, searching for a unique gift, or simply looking to enjoy a delicious meal in a lively setting, Bolton Market delivers on all fronts. It's a credit to the town and a place that truly embodies the best of traditional market values with a modern, welcoming twist. Highly...

Undoubtedly one of (if not) the best food markets in the North West. So many exotic fruits and vegetables as well as specialist food stores such as a well stocked Oriental food shop with all so many products from as far as China, Korea, Thailand, Japan and the Phillipines as well as a Sri Lankan store and some Afro-Carribean stores. The meat and fish market have a huge range of fresh meat and fish and the best times to get a good deal are Saturdays at around 15:00 - 16:00. The market is closed on Sunday and the Monday so store holders discount items to clear them before the Sunday and Monday closure. Browns discount store and the Freeze Factory offer some amazing discounts too on branded food items. The market here also has a great food hall with a bar and hot food from Malaysia and China, Mexican food and South African food as well as a pizza place and curry stall. The veg market also has some snack stalls offering rotisserie chicken, cooked gammon, nuggets, sausages, chips as well as a sweet stall, ice cream stall and a new desert stall.

Fantastic. Focusing on the fish, meat and veggies, this is what a market should be like. Live shellfish, hung game birds, boxes of scotch bonnets, offal, massive racks of ribs... Selection of independent cafes and food stalls with lots of variety (with normal people, a complete lack of bearded hipsters serving sourdough pizza), Altrincham take note! Toilets free and reasonably clean. Parking is run by NCP and £1.80 for an hour; busy on a Saturday morning, get there early and use the NCP app to avoid the queue for the parking payment machines.

A well structured market, well known for varieties of products sold across diverse cultures and race. I so much love the friendliness of sellers mostly the food market section. Fruits, plantains, sea food, turkey, soft and hard chicken, home appliances, clothes, chilli,...just to mention a few. As an Nigerian, you would get almost all that you want except the green veggies which is not on sale (just the pumpkin and sometimes water leaf). As an heads up, plan what you need else, you might buy much more than you need.
