NAMCO Funscape Braintree — Attraction in Braintree

On Saturday 22nd October we had a karaoke party for my daughter and the experience from start to finish was unprofessional, disgusting, rude and dirty. We were asked to come early so they could upload our requested songs. Instead we waited 10 minutes just to be served. Then when finally shown the room, we had to try and upload the tracks ourselves. Then to make matters worse I noticed that this time was taken out of the allocated hour which was for the party. When we booked the party they informed us that they had just updated the songs, however out of the 30 songs my daughter and friends wanted there were 4. This would of been OK if the experience was that of what any paying customer would of expected. There was a box of dress up glasses, guitars etc. Which was a fantastic idea, however to further disappoint - the quitars didn't blow up, glasses were broke and the rest of the box had been diminished. Worse still my wife took two of the children to the toilet to find they hadn't been cleaned for many hours and she said it would of been cleaner and safer to pee on the street. Although i disnt think they could, but to make matters worse. Not only during this horrible hour and half was there not one member of staff to help us. When we finished and I wanted to complain. I found myself in a queue for a further 15 minutes and ended up walking out. Website also doesn't give you facility to leave comments? Very poor service, shocking customer service, poor management, disgusting facilities. Will never use again and will definitely sharing my experience rather than...

We came here for my daughter's birthday and we all had an absolutely fantastic time! every single member of staff bends over backwards for you. They had a huge birthday party going on yet it didn't stop them from giving great service to smaller groups like ours. My kids really enjoyed the clip and climb. The guys that run it are so helpful and encouraging. unfortunately one of my daughter's friend's saw the height of the wall and decided she couldn't do it so they offered me a refund. I didn't even ask for one as I thought I wouldn't be entitled to it as I paid in advance. I was so grateful, especially as it meant my kids had more money for the arcades.

We ordered some snacks which were really nice, and then we went on the arcade games. I must say that the place is a lot bigger than it looks in the photos. I wasn't expecting it to be so much fun there but we all had a blast. We were also booked for bowling and they gave me a refund on my husband's ticket because he injured his back last week so couldn't play.

I'm so impressed with how well things are run there. The place was absolutely manic. It was extremely loud and busy yet all of the staff seem unphased by it and provided excellent service. Everything was clean. There were sanitising stations everywhere. I'd read a few reviews that said the place is run down. It's absolutely not run down at all. Well worth a visit. 10 million stars!

Bowling is functional, plenty of balls of different sizes, but the lanes feel poorly maintained as the speedo wasn't working, and the attempt at disco lighting was pathetic. The animations on the score boards take much too long for what looks like bad, 20 year old animations.

Played a little on the foosball table (table football), this again was poorly maintained as the rods were stiff to be pushed through the table.

Didn't try any food here, drinks were a little on the pricy side.

Bearing in mind this is a Namco branded outlet, a company build on coin-ops, theme parks and videogames, the games dotted about the place are absolutely staggeringly woeful. Lots of games of chance, penny pushers and other thinly veiled gambling machines so kids can exchange money for a slim chance at enough tokens to win a keychain whilst staring wide eye at the prizes you can get for tens of thousands of tickets.

The only positive thing I really have to say about this establishment is that the staff were absolutely fantastic. Everyone was chipper despite being forced to work in absolutely abhorrent temperatures - if management @funscape ever sees this, you do not deserve your staff.

Modernise the bowling alley, shift your games towards things that are fun to play, and for the love of all that is holy install lots and lots of air...
