This place is completely dead now. Twenty years ago, it was booming — full of great shops, amazing restaurants (Mexican, Italian, Indian, Greek, Chinese, French, Spanish, American), and vibrant clubs like Karma and Ebony. There was even a casino.
Then someone with an Excel spreadsheet and no vision started killing businesses bit by bit. Rents went up, real businesses couldn’t survive, and spaces ended up rented to random companies that make no sense here. It’s clear the focus became short-term money instead of long-term growth.
Today, the main income probably comes from maintenance fees paid by flat owners on the marina. The only places really worth visiting are a family-owned Italian restaurant, Prezzo, the cinema, Wetherspoon, and Asda — which probably generates most of the foot traffic.
What this place needs is a new manager with vision — someone who cares about restoring its character and long-term future, not just chasing the next...
